Effects of Ce–Co substitution on structural, magnetic and dielectric properties of M-type barium hexaferrite nanoparticles synthetized by sol–gel auto-combustion route

    , Article Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics ; Volume 26, Issue 4 , 2015 , Pages 2134-2144 ; 09574522 (ISSN) Lalegani, Z ; Nemati, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
M-type Ce–Co substituted barium hexaferrite nanoparticles were synthesized by sol–gel auto-combustion route. The general formula of ferrites was Ba1−xCexFe12−xCoxO19 in which the x was considered to be: x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3. The formed phases in the samples were characterized by using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Mössbauer spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer. The results indicated that an increase in substitutional ion amount caused to decrease vibration frequencies of Fe–O band in the tetrahedral site due to the substitution of heavier Co2+ ion for Fe3+ ion in the tetrahedral site. Moreover, some of Ce3+ ions was transformed to Ce4+ and...

Fast multiqubit gates by adiabatic evolution in interacting excited-state manifolds of rydberg atoms and superconducting circuits

    , Article Physical Review X ; Volume 10, Issue 2 , June , 2020 Khazali, M ; Mølmer, K ; Sharif University of Technology
    American Physical Society  2020
    Abstract
Quantum computing and quantum simulation can be implemented by concatenation of one- and two-qubit gates and interactions. For most physical implementations, however, it may be advantageous to explore state components and interactions that depart from this universal paradigm and offer faster or more robust access to more advanced operations on the system. In this article, we show that adiabatic passage along the dark eigenstate of excitation exchange interactions can be used to implement fast multiqubit Toffoli (Ck-NOT) and fan-out (C-NOTk) gates. This mechanism can be realized by simultaneous excitation of atoms to Rydberg levels, featuring resonant exchange interaction. Our theoretical...

Air quenching as a reliable technique to obtain colossal dielectric constant with low loss in (In, Nb)-co doped TiO2

    , Article Materials Letters ; Volume 267 , May , 2020 Maleki Shahraki, M ; Mahmoudi, P ; Karimi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B. V  2020
    Abstract
In this research, for the first time, the effect of air quenching on the microstructural and electrical properties of (In, Nb) co-doped TiO2 was investigated. The FE-SEM images showed that the air quenching has no effect on microstructure of co-doped TiO2. However, air quenching affected the electrical properties so that the dielectric constant in the frequency of 1 kHz at room temperature sharply enhanced from 21*103 to 26*104 and the dielectric loss surprisingly decreased from 0.6 to 0.1. This incredible improvement in the dielectric properties is attributed to the electron-pined defect dipoles which has been activated through air quenching. © 2020 Elsevier B.V

Recently, preparation of lightweight absorbers with high performance capability are urgently needed for practical demanded in order to solve the severe electromagnetic pollution. In the present study, two different composites (Fe3O4/carbon fiber and Fe3O4/rGO) were uniformly incorporated into resin epoxy matrix to obtain single and double layer X-band absorber with 20 wt% filler loading. Each of the composites were prepared via solvothermal process. According to the results, the minimum reflection loss values for each single layer Fe3O4/carbon fiber and Fe3O4/rGO absorber were −15 dB (3 mm thickness and 1.5 GHz bandwidth) and −50 dB (3 mm thickness and 4 GHz bandwidth) respectively. By...

    Abstract
Indium substituted Cu[sbnd]Ni nanoferrites with nominal compositions Cu 0.5 Ni 0.5 In x Fe 2-x O 4 (x = 0.00–0.32)were successfully synthesized by sol-gel auto ignition method. X-ray diffraction patterns illustrated the single phase spinel structure for x ≤ 0.24. The lattice parameter ‘a’ increased from 8.3349 to 8.3723 Å and then it decreased for x = 0.32. X-ray density increased from 5.43 to 5.79 g/cm 3 . The average crystallite sizes lie in the range 33.21–17.78 nm. The cell volume was increased from 579.03 to 586.86 Å 3 with the substitution of indium ions into the spinel lattice of copper nickel ferrites. The compositional dependence of tetrahedral and octahedral radii was explained on...

Structural features and chemical bonds of the films were studied by TGA/DSC, XRD, FT-IR, and FE-SEM. The electrical and optical properties of the films were analysed by impedance spectroscopy and UV–VIS spectroscopy. The results...

    Abstract
In this research, the microstructure, dielectric, and non-Ohmic properties of (Cr, Nb) co-doped SnO2 ceramics, (Cr0.5, Nb0.5)xSn1-xO2 with x% = 0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0, and 10.0, as a colossal dielectric material and a prospective alternative to co-doped TiO2 ceramics were studied. The X-ray diffraction results indicated that in all compositions, the cassiterite phase was achieved without any secondary phases. Moreover, field-emission secondary electron microscopy showed that the microstructure of samples has different morphologies including typical grains, enlarged grains and prism-like grains microstructure for various sintered samples. The maximum dielectric constant (2737) accompanied by...

    Abstract
The present work aims to fabricate cordierite/BZBS glass (Bi2O3-ZnO-B2O3-SiO2) composites through one-step heat treatment. Cordierite was synthesized from a solid-state reaction of aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and silica gel. BZBS glass was obtained through the classic melt quenching technique. Milled cordierite powder was mixed with different volume fractions of glass powders and heat treated at 950 °C. Considering the densification behavior along with the microwave dielectric features, two composites (C70G30 and C60G40) were chosen for further examination. These composites were separately heat treated at different temperatures from 650 up to 900 °C, then characterized due to...

    Abstract
Gadolinium (Gd) and cobalt (Co) substituted Sr–Ba–Cu-based Y-type hexaferrites were synthesized with the help of the sol–gel auto-combustion route. XRD (X-ray diffraction) analysis was done to ratify the phase formation of hexaferrites. The impact of Gd3+ substitutions was measured on all the lattice parameters. Lattice constants “a” and “c” were found between 5.879–5.891 Å and 43.185–43.620 Å, respectively. It was observed from the XRD analysis that with an increase in Gd–Co contents, the enhancement in the average crystallite size is noted. The thermal decomposition process was studied using TGA (thermogravimetric analysis), revealing that the precursor may give the ending product when...

    Abstract
Tunable microwave absorption characteristics are highly desirable for industrial applications such as antenna, absorber, and biomedical diagnostics. Here, we report BiNdxCrxFe1-2xO3 (x = 0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) nanoparticles (NPs) with electromagnetic matching, which exhibit tunable magneto-optical and feasible microwave absorption characteristics for microwave absorber applications. The experimental results and theoretical calculations demonstrate the original bismuth ferrite (BFO) crystal structure, while Nd and Cr injection in the BFO structure may cause to minimize dielectric losses and enhance magnetization by producing interfacial defects in the spinel structure. Nd and Cr co-doping plays...
