    Abstract
In present research six samples of nano X-type hexagonal ferrites with general formula SrBaMg2-xCoxDyyFe28-yO46 (x = 0–1; y = 0–0.1 with step size of 0.2 and 0.02, respectively) were synthesized by sol–gel technique. The temperature required for the phase formation of these materials was estimated using thermogravimetric analysis. X-ray diffraction patterns revealed the pure phase of the prepared materials up to the doping concentration of x = 0.4, y = 0.04 along with the second phase for higher doping concentration. The secondary phase appeared due to the solubility limit of higher ionic radius Dy3+ ions into the hexagonal lattice. The mean crystalline size decreased from 29 to 18 nm while...

Impact of holmium on structural, dielectric and magnetic properties of Cu–Zn spinel ferrites synthesized via sol–gel route

    Abstract
The mixed nano-ferrites materials Cu0.6Zn0.4HoxFe2−xO4 (0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.12) were prepared via the sol–gel auto combustion technique. The TGA curve established the annealing temperature (500 °C) for phase formation. The single exothermic peak on the DSC plot occurred at 341 °C temperature. XRD patterns of these nano ferrites verified single phase formation of the FCC cubic structure. The lattice constant a was increased from 8.4244 to 8.4419 Å and then its value decreased to 8.4319 Å. Crystallite size was found in the range of 7 to 16 nm. The surface morphology of the samples was observed from the scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. The grain size was found within the range of 90 nm to...

    Abstract
The influence of indium on the properties of Cu0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 nano ferrites synthesized by sol–gel auto-combustion technique was studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis demonstrated that pure and substituted ferrites possessed cubic spinel structure. The lattice parameter increases with the inclusion of In3+ for x ≤ 0.16 and decreases subsequently. A linear decrease in crystallite size was found as concentration of indium increased. X-ray density, strain, and dislocation density were increased as indium content increases. Hopping lengths as well as radii of A and B sites revealed increasing behavior up to x = 0.16 and decreased thereafter. The spectral bands indicated the formation of...

Optimization of HV generator insulation system based on electro-thermal analysis using FEM

    , Article Proceedings of the IASTED International Conference on Modelling and Simulation ; 2011 , Pages 288-293 ; 10218181 (ISSN) ; 9780889868878 (ISBN) Azizi, D ; Gholami, A ; Gholami, M. H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A large number of generators failed due to stator winding problems, mainly insulation deterioration. Insulation degradation assessment plays vital role in the asset life management. Electro thermal analysis is the main characteristic for simulation of generator behavior and to improve the design of stator slot's insulation. Dielectric parameters such as insulation thickness, spacing, material types, geometry of winding and slot are major design consideration. A very powerful method available to analyze electro thermal performance is Finite Element Method (FEM) which is used in this paper. The analysis of various stator coil and slot configurations are used to design the better dielectric...

A novel model for complex permittivity of glass for propagation modeling in millimeter-wave band

    , Article Mediterrannean Microwave Symposium, MMS 2009 ; 2009 ; 9781424446643 (ISBN) Arvani, F ; Shishegar, A. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In radio channels modelings, the phases and amplitudes of the rays undergo some modifications when they are reflected from or transmitted through a particular material. These reflection and transmission coefficients make use of the electrical properties of the materials, thus, it is essential to know the values of the relative dielectric constant and of the conductivity or the loss tangent of the materials that appear in the propagation environments. In this paper, a theoretical model based on the inter-molecule interactions, has been developed and used to estimate the dielectric parameters of glass. ©2009 IEEE

    Abstract
The structural and dielectric properties of Gadolinium substituted U-type hexaferrites (Sr4Zn2Fe36O60) were investigated. The samples were synthesized via the Sol-gel auto combustion route. In a muffle furnace, these samples were sintered for 5 h at 1250 °C. The pellets of synthesized powder samples were characterized by XRD, PL, Dielectric, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopies. Structural elucidation of Sr4Zn2Fe36-xGdxO60 was done via XRD. The obtained XRD patterns were matched with the prior literature. The impact of Gd3+ substitutions was measured on all the lattice parameters. Lattice constants “a" and “c" were found between 5.871 and 5.900 Å and 111.76–112.23 Å, respectively. The PL spectra...
