Diffraction influence on the field of view and resolution of three-dimensional integral imaging

    , Article IEEE/OSA Journal of Display Technology ; Vol. 10, issue. 7 , 2014 , pp. 553-559 Ashari, Z ; Kavehvash, Z ; Mehrany K ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The influence of the diffraction limit on the field of view of three-dimensional integral imaging (InI) systems is estimated by calculating the resolution of the InI system along arbitrarily tilted directions. The deteriorating effects of diffraction on the resolution are quantified in this manner. Two different three-dimensional scenes are recorded by real/virtual and focused imaging modes. The recorded scenes are reconstructed at different tilted planes and the obtained results for the resolution and field of view of the system are verified. It is shown that the diffraction effects severely affect the resolution of InI in the real/virtual mode when the tilted angle of viewing is increased....

The Effect of Temperature and Rotational Speed on Structure and Mechanical Properties of Cast Cu Base Alloy (Cu-Al-Si-Fe) Welded by Semisolid Stir Joining Method

    , Article Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A: Physical Metallurgy and Materials Science ; Volume 46, Issue 12 , 2015 , Pages 5782-5788 ; 10735623 (ISSN) Ferasat, K ; Aashuri, H ; Kokabi, A. H ; Shafizadeh, M ; Nikzad, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Semisolid stir joining has been under deliberation as a possible method for joining of copper alloys. In this study, the effect of temperature and rotational speed of stirrer on macrostructure evaluation and mechanical properties of samples were investigated. Optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction were performed for macro and microstructural analysis. A uniform micro-hardness profile was attained by semisolid stir joining method. The ultimate shear strength and bending strength of welded samples were improved in comparison with the cast sample. There is also lower area porosity in welded samples than the cast metal. The mechanical properties were improved by increasing temperature and...

Improving the relativistic self-focusing of intense laser beam in plasma using density transition

    , Article Physics of Plasmas ; Volume 16, Issue 8 , 2009 ; 1070664X (ISSN) Sadighi Bonabi, R ; Habibi, M ; Yazdani, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
The propagation of a Gaussian beam in underdense plasma with upward increasing density ramp is analyzed. In this work are shown that the spot size oscillations of laser beam increases and its amplitude shrinks with proper plasma density ramp. This causes the laser beam to become more focused and penetrations deep into the plasma by reduction of diffraction effect. The related focusing parameters are optimized to get the best possible focusing at the relativistic threshold intensity of Nd-glass laser and the effect of the laser intensity in the self-focusing parameters is also investigated. The analytical calculations are presented and showed more reliable results in comparison to the...

Modification of nanostructure and improvement of mechanical properties of polypropylene/polyamide 6/layered silicate ternary nanocomposites through variation of processing route

    Abstract
Ternary nanocomposites of polypropylene/polyamide 6/layered silicate were prepared through three different processing procedures. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy were used to study the nanostructure of the samples, and tensile and impact strength measurements were conducted to assess the mechanical properties. It was shown that processing route has a significant effect on the delamination of clay platelets. Fully exfoliated nanostructure was achieved through a certain two-step processing route. Compatibilization of the blends affected microstructure as well as nanostructure. Mechanical properties were affected by changing the processing route, to a great degree....

Analytical investigation of nonlinear heave-coupled response of tension leg platform

, Article Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Part M: Journal of Engineering for the Maritime Environment ; 2018 ; 14750902 (ISSN) Tabeshpour, M. R ; Hedayatpour, R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Having deep view in structural response of tension leg platform is important issue not only for response analysis but also for engineering design. Coupling between surge and heave motions of tension leg platform is such a problem. Here, tension leg platform motions are considered only in surge and heave degrees of freedom without pitch effect. The coupled term of heave is a nonlinear differential equation. Because the focus of this article is on this term, therefore, Duffing equation of motion in the surge direction is linearized. The wave forces are calculated using Airy’s wave theory and Morison’s equation, ignoring the diffraction effects. Current force also can be very important in...
