    Abstract
In this investigation, we have studied the elemental diffusion coefficients of the Cu/Ta and Ta/Si interfaces in the Cu/Ta/Si(1 1 1) structure. The diffusion parameters for Cu diffusion into the Ta barrier layer, Ta diffusion into the Si substrate and diffusion of Si atoms into the Ta layer have been calculated using conversion of RBS data to concentration-depth profile curves and the solution of Fick's equation based on a constant diffusing amount boundary conditions. Furthermore, by calculating grain boundary diffusion coefficients, we have estimated grain boundary slabs of the Ta layer at different temperatures. It was shown that, the width of grain boundary slabs in the Ta layer at 700°C...

The effect of Si addition and Ta diffusion barrier on growth and thermal stability of NiSi nanolayer

    , Article Microelectronic Engineering ; Volume 85, Issue 3 , 2008 , Pages 548-552 ; 01679317 (ISSN) Kargarian, M ; Akhavan, O ; Moshfegh, A. Z ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Formation and thermal stability of nanothickness NiSi layer in Ni(Pt 4 at.%)/Si(1 0 0) and Ni0.6Si0.4(Pt 4 at.%)/Si(1 0 0) structures have been investigated using magnetron co-sputtering deposition method. Moreover, to study the effect of Si substrate in formation of NiSi and its thermal stability, we have used Ta diffusion barrier between the Ni0.6Si0.4 layer and the Si substrate. Post annealing treatment of the samples was performed in an N2 environment in a temperature range from 200 to 900 °C for 2 min. The samples were analyzed by four point probe sheet resistance (Rs) measurement, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques. It was found that the annealing...

    Abstract
In the recent years a great attention of research deals with different physical and biological aspects of the BBB structure, a robust shield that separates the blood and brain, a recent research held by the authors of this paper has focused on figuring out computing the diffusion coefficient of endothelial cell membrane. In this study, the major efforts have been concentrated on calculating a standardized measure for the amount of permeability and diffusion of this barrier. As a result, this work is dedicated to molecular dynamics (MD) simulation of calculating the interaction force between nano-particle and BBB membrane. data is recorded by using steered molecular dynamics simulation and...

Computing the blood brain barrier (BBB) diffusion coefficient: A molecular dynamics approach

    Abstract
Various physical and biological aspects of the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) structure still remain unfolded. Therefore, among the several mechanisms of drug delivery, only a few have succeeded in breaching this barrier, one of which is the use of Magnetic Nanoparticles (MNPs). However, a quantitative characterization of the BBB permeability is desirable to find an optimal magnetic force-field. In the present study, a molecular model of the BBB is introduced that precisely represents the interactions between MNPs and the membranes of Endothelial Cells (ECs) that form the BBB. Steered Molecular Dynamics (SMD) simulations of the BBB crossing phenomenon have been carried out. Mathematical modeling...

A pore-level screening study on miscible/immiscible displacements in heterogeneous models

    , Article Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering ; Volume 110 , 2013 , Pages 40-54 ; 09204105 (ISSN) Mohammadi, S ; Hossein Ghazanfari, M ; Masihi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A comprehensive understanding of the role of reservoir heterogeneities induced by flow barriers and connate water on sweep efficiency of different EOR scenarios is rarely attended in the available literature. In this work, different miscible/immiscible EOR processes were conducted on various one-quarter five-spot glass micromodels incorporating small-scale flow barriers. Microscopic and macroscopic observations revealed the reduction of sweep efficiency, premature breakthrough of displacing fluids, the severity of fingering at displacement front which leaves a large amount of oil behind the flow barriers untouched, and significant increasing trend of oil recovery after breakthrough in the...
