Moisture diffusivity and shrinkage of broad beans during bulk drying in an inert medium fluidized bed dryer assisted by dielectric heating, Article Journal of Food Engineering ; Volume 92, Issue 3 , 2009 , Pages 331-338 ; 02608774 (ISSN) ; Mowla, D ; Kazemeini, M ; Sharif University of Technology
Drying behavior of broad beans (Vicia faba) was studied in a pilot scaled fluidized bed dryer with inert particles assisted by dielectric heating. The effective diffusion coefficient of moisture transfer was determined by Fickian method at four different air drying temperatures of 35, 45, 55 and 65 °C. Correlations for moisture diffusivity as a function of moisture content and temperature of the drying medium were developed. The values of moisture diffusivity were obtained within the range of 1.27 × 10-9-6.48 × 10-9 m2/s and the activation energies for FBD and FBD + DE were found to be 27.71 and 17.10 kJ/mol, respectively. The shrinkage behavior of the broad beans was also investigated by...
Theoretical investigation of imidazolium based ionic liquid/alcohol mixture: A molecular dynamic simulation, Article Molecular Physics ; Volume 106, Issue 8 , 2008 , Pages 1015-1023 ; 00268976 (ISSN) ; Taghikhani, M ; Behnejad, H ; Ahmadi, S. J ; Sharif University of Technology
In this work, molecular dynamic simulation of the mixture of imidazolium based ionic liquids with alcohols is implemented in order to investigate mixing excess properties and some structural and physical properties of the mixture. Excess volumes and enthalpies are evaluated for 11 different mole fractions of ionic liquids at each 0.1, in the range of 0 to 1. Radial distribution function, cohesive energy density, potential of mean force, solvation energy, and diffusion coefficient are reported and analysed. The effects of the cationic alkyl chain length, in comparison with changes of the anions, on these properties are reported. Results reveal that the methanol molecule participates with its...

Nickel and nickel-copper alloy modified glassy carbon electrodes (GC/Ni and GC/NiCu) prepared by galvanostatic deposition were examined for their redox process and electrocatalytic activities towards the oxidation of methanol in alkaline solutions. The methods of cyclic voltammetery (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA) were employed. The cyclic voltammogram of NiCu alloy demonstrates the formation of β/β crystallographic forms of the nickel oxyhydroxide under prolonged repetitive potential cycling in alkaline solution. In CV studies, in the presence of methanol NiCu alloy modified electrode shows a significantly higher response for methanol oxidation. The peak current of the oxidation of nickel...
