An experimental and computational study on the rate constant of electrochemically generated n-acetyl-p- quinoneimine with dimethylamine

    , Article International Journal of Electrochemical Science ; Vol.3, Issue 10 , September , 2008 , PP. 1092-1107 ; 14523981 Shafiei, H. (Hadi) ; Haqgu, M. (Mohammad) ; Nematollahi, D. (Davood) ; Gholami, M. R. (Mohammad Reza) ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Electrochemical oxidation of acetaminophen (N–acetyl–p–aminophenol) (1) has been studied in the presence of dimethylamine (2) as a nucleophile in aqueous solution, by means of cyclic voltammetry and controlled-potential coulometry. The results indicate the participation of electrochemically generated N-acetyl-p-quinoneimine (1a) in Michael reaction with dimethylamine (2). Based on ECE mechanism, the observed homogeneous rate constant (kobs) of the above mentioned reaction is estimated by comparing the experimental cyclic voltammograms with the digital simulated results. Further more; kinetics and mechanism of the reaction were studied with ab initio calculation, Monte Carlo and QM/MM...

    Abstract
The Unsymmetrical dimethyl hydrazine (UDMH) apart from its use as a versatile rocket fuel, finds numerous industrial applications. Interest in UDMH for various applications in the missile and rocket industry has prompted the study of this member of hydrazine family to greater extent. It can be prepared in several ways but one of the most efficient ones which results in higher yields is the catalytic hydrogenation of Nitroso Dimethylamine (NDMA). In this work the kinetic of NDMA to UDMH hydrogenation on a 5% Pd/C in aqueous solution of NDMA was studied experimentally and optimum conditions of the reaction for maximum yield of UDMH in the presence of undesired dimethyl amine (DMA) product was...

Preferential solvation and behavior of solvatochromic indicators in mixtures of an ionic liquid with some molecular solvents

    , Article The Journal of Physical Chemistry B ; vol.114 (29) , July , 2010 , pp 9586–9593 Salari, H. (Hadi) ; Khodadadi-Moghaddam, M.(Mohammad) ; Harifi-Mood, A. R. (Ali Reza) ; Gholami, M. R. (Mohammad Reza) ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Structural and intermolecular interactions of solvatochromic probes 4-nitroaniline, 4-nitroanisole, and Reichardt’s dye were investigated in the binary mixtures of 2-hydroxy ethylammonium formate as an ionic liquid with N,N-dimethyl formamide, dimethyl amine, and dimethyl sulfoxide. Solvatochromic parameters (ETN, normalized polarity parameter; π*, dipolarity/polarizability; β, hydrogen-bond acceptor basicity; α, hydrogen -bond donor acidity) were determined in ionic liquid mixtures at 25 °C using UV−vis spectroscopy. ETN parameters obtained from absorbance of Reichardt’s dye within various mixtures of ionic liquid were observed to be higher than predicted values from ideal additive...

    Abstract
Sulfur mustard (SM) is a vesication chemical warfare agent for which there is currently no antidote. Despite years of research, there is no common consensus about the pathophysiological basis of chronic pulmonary disease caused by this chemical warfare agent. In this study, we combined chemometric techniques with nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to explore the metabolic profile of sera from SM-exposed patients. A total of 29 serum samples obtained from 17 SM-injured patients, and 12 healthy controls were analyzed by Random Forest. Increased concentrations of seven amino acids, glycerol, dimethylamine, ketone bodies, lactate, acetate, citrulline and creatine together with the...

    Abstract
Objective(s): This study aims to evaluate combined proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) metabolic profiling approaches, for discriminating between mustard airway diseases (MADs) and healthy controls and for providing biochemical information on this disease. Materials and Methods: In the present study, analysis of serum samples collected from 17 MAD subjects and 12 healthy controls was performed using NMR. Of these subjects, 14 (8 patients and 6 controls) were analyzed by GC-MS. Then, their spectral profiles were subjected to principal component analysis (PCA) and orthogonal partial least squares regression discriminant...
