    Abstract
Parameter extraction of the five-parameter single-diode model of solar cells and modules from experimental data is a challenging problem. These parameters are evaluated from a set of nonlinear equations that cannot be solved analytically. On the other hand, a numerical solution of such equations needs a suitable initial guess to converge to a solution. This paper presents a new set of approximate analytical solutions for the parameters of a five-parameter single-diode model of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules. The proposed solutions provide a good initial point which guarantees numerical analysis convergence. The proposed technique needs only a few data from the PV current-voltage...

On the comprehensive parametrization of the photovoltaic (pv) cells and modules

    Abstract
In the classical parametrization of the single-diode model of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules based on the datasheet values, first, the values of the five unknown parameters of the PV model are extracted via the values of the open-circuit voltage Voc, the short-circuit current Isc, and the voltage and current at the maximum power point Vm, Im at standard test conditions (STC). Next, using some translational formulas, the STC values of the unknown parameters are projected to the new climatic conditions other than STC. A major problem of this approach is to determine the translational formulas of the five unknown parameters of the single-diode model as a function of both temperature and...

Improved efficiency in front-side illuminated dye sensitized solar cells based on free-standing one-dimensional TiO2 nanotube array electrodes

    Abstract
Although morphological disorder of nanotube structure is further down than the nanoparticular electrode, its density of traps are the hindering effects in the charge transport. In this study, crack-free TiO2 nanotube membranes, which obtained through a re-anodizing process, are fixed on transparent fluorine–tin-oxide glass by applying a few drops of Titanium Isopropoxide without needing the TiO2 powder paste. Front-side illuminated dye sensitized solar cells fabricated by undoped, N-doped and blue TiO2 nanotube membranes are investigated. The electrical characteristics of TiO2 nanotube based dye sensitized solar cells are followed by theoretical analysis using simple one-diode model....

On the parameter extraction of a five-parameter double-diode model of photovoltaic cells and modules

    , Article IEEE Journal of Photovoltaics ; Vol. 4, issue. 3 , 2014 , pp. 915-923 ; ISSN: 21563381 Hejri, M ; Mokhtari, H ; Azizian, M. R ; Ghandhari, M ; Soder, L ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The main contribution of this paper is to present a new set of approximate analytical solutions for the parameters of a photovoltaic (PV) five-parameter double-diode model that can be used as initial values for the numerical solutions based on the Newton-Raphson method. The proposed formulations are developed based on only the limited information given by the PV manufacturers, i.e., the open-circuit voltage (V), the short circuit current (I), and the current and voltage at the maximum power point (Im). Compared with the existing techniques that require the entire experimental I-V curve or additional information such as the slope of the I-V curves of the open circuit and the short circuit...
