    Abstract
The development of a flexible binder free electrode based on 3D vanadium dioxide (VO2) nano-architectures has materialized as an effective strategy for fabrication of advanced wearable, portable, and stretchable electronic devices. However, most of the stretchable energy storage devices based on VO2 suffer from a relatively low operating voltage, high weight, low specific capacitance, and thus low energy density. Here, a novel binder free supercapacitor electrode composed of hierarchical VO2 nanosheet arrays grown on porous carbon nanofibers (VO2@PCNFs) is designed using a simple hydrothermal method followed by annealing treatment. The electrochemical evaluation confirmed that the energy...

Design and Fabrication of Advanced Electrode Materials Based on Metal-organic Frameworks and Double Layered Hydroxides Using Hollow Copper Hydroxide Nanotubes Scaffold; Application to Nonenzymatic Glucose Sensor

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khaki Sanati, Elnaz (Author) ; Shahrokhian, Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the remarkable subject in advanced electrochemistry is, design and architecting new advanced materials with new electrochemical capabilities. One of the notable capabilities is electrocatalysis. Extensive researches are carrying out into the design and preparation of electrocatalyst materials to take advantage of these materials in fabrication of electrochemical sensors and storage/conversion devices. In this field nonoporous materials attracted a lot of attentions due to their unique features. In order to make use of the nanoporous materials as the electrocatalysts, these materials must be fabricated into continuous supported thin films on the electrode surface, which is the...

Rolled graphene oxide foams as three-dimensional scaffolds for growth of neural fibers using electrical stimulation of stem cells

    , Article Carbon ; Volume 97 , 2016 , Pages 71-77 ; 00086223 (ISSN) Akhavan, O ; Ghaderi, E ; Shirazian, S. A ; Rahighi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd
    Abstract
Graphene oxide foam (GOF) layers with thicknesses of ∼15-50 μm and density of ∼10 graphene oxide (GO) sheets/μm were fabricated by precipitation of chemically exfoliated GO sheets in an aqueous suspension at ∼80 °C under UV irradiation. Then, rolled GOFs with desirable scales were developed as electrically conductive 3D-scaffolds and applied in directional growth of neural fibers, through differentiation of human neural stem cells (hNSCs) into neurons under an electrical stimulation. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicated that the UV irradiation resulted in partial deoxygenation of the layers. Scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the presence of multilayer GO...

Advanced binder-free electrode based on core–shell nanostructures of mesoporous Co3V2O8-Ni3V2O8 thin layers@porous carbon nanofibers for high-performance and flexible all-solid-state supercapacitors

    Elsevier B.V  2018
    Abstract
The development of thin layer structures on flexible current collectors has become as an effective strategy for preparing advanced portable and wearable power sources. Herein, a flexible and efficient electrode was fabricated based on electrospun porous carbon nanofibers (PCNFs) substrate with elaborately designed thin layer Co3V2O8-Ni3V2O8 core–shell nanostructures (Co3V2O8-Ni3V2O8 TLs@PCNFs). The resulting free-standing Co3V2O8-Ni3V2O8 TLs@PCNFs composite was used directly as a flexible electrode in three electrode system for supercapacitor studies without the need for utilization of either binder or metal-based current collector. The unique thin layer structure of Co3V2O8-Ni3V2O8...

Electrocrystallization of Ni nanocones from chloride-based bath using crystal modifier by electrochemical methods

    Abstract
The early stages of nucleation and growth of nanostructures can control the shape and final size of the fabricated nanostructure. Therefore, the study of the nucleation and growth mechanism of nanostructures is of great importance. The purpose of this study is to investigate the nucleation and growth mechanism of nickel nanocones from a chloride-based bath containing ethylene ammonium dichloride as a crystal modifier. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and chronoamperometry tests were employed to investigate the nucleation and growth mechanism and also the mechanism of crystal modifier performance on the growth of nanocones. Electrochemical studies revealed...

Direct growth of metal-organic frameworks thin film arrays on glassy carbon electrode based on rapid conversion step mediated by copper clusters and hydroxide nanotubes for fabrication of a high performance non-enzymatic glucose sensing platform

    Abstract
The direct growth of self-supported metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) thin film can be considered as an effective strategy for fabrication of the advanced modified electrodes in sensors and biosensor applications. However, most of the fabricated MOFs-based sensors suffer from some drawbacks such as time consuming for synthesis of MOF and electrode making, need of a binder or an additive layer, need of expensive equipment and use of hazardous solvents. Here, a novel free-standing MOFs-based modified electrode was fabricated by the rapid direct growth of MOFs on the surface of the glassy carbon electrode (GCE). In this method, direct growth of MOFs was occurred by the formation of vertically...

Fabrication of a sensitive and fast response electrochemical glucose sensing platform based on co-based metal-organic frameworks obtained from rapid in situ conversion of electrodeposited cobalt hydroxide intermediates

    Abstract
In this study, for the first time, we reported a fast and facile three-step in situ strategy for direct controllable growth of the Co3(BTC)2 MOFs thin films on the GCE, through the rapid conversion of the electrodeposited Co(OH)2 nano-flakes on rGO/GCE, to crystalline rectangular bar-shape structures of MOFs. X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and elemental mapping analysis used to the structural and morphological characterization of the well-synthesized MOFs. The as-prepared Co3(BTC)2 MOFs were used to construct a non-enzymatic sensing platform for determining the glucose...
