    Abstract
Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), a 2D layered structure, because of its unique properties has widely attracted many researchers. In this study, by employing physical and chemical methods, not only layers of MoS2 have been intercalated, but also their surface properties enhanced. Low-dimensional and potential properties of intercalated MoS2 nanosheets are the aim of many researches. Here, we report a novel four step method to intercalate the layers of MoS2 nanosheets successfully using acid treatment, sonication, oxidization and thermal shocking. The other goal in this study is to evaluate the cation exchange ability and anticorrosion performance of the Ce3+ doped MoS2 nanosheets. The...

    Abstract
An efficient synthesis of highly substituted thiophenes was developed by means of sulfonylketenimines in a multi-step reaction including heterocumulene system containing sulfur and nitro-alkanes with acidic α-hydrogen. The speed and ease of conducting this four-component reaction under mild conditions and using available materials makes it an ideal method to synthesize high purity substituted thiophenes with sulfonamide moiety. All structures synthesized are confirmed by the instrumental analysis (EI-MS, IR and 1H /13C-NMR). © 2019, © 2019 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group

    Abstract
A manganese(III) complex, [Mn(phox)2(CH3OH) 2]ClO4 (phox = 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)oxazoline), was immobilized on silica-coated magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles through the amino propyl linkage using a grafting process in dichloromethane. The resulting Fe3O4@SiO2-NH2@Mn(III) nanoparticles are used as efficient and recyclable catalysts for selective oxidation of thiols to disulfides using urea-hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant. The nanocatalyst was recycled several times. Leaching and recycling experiments revealed that the nanocatalyst can be recovered, recycled, and reused more than five times, without the loss of catalytic activity and magnetic properties. The recycling of the nanocatalyst in six...

    Abstract
Four metal dithiocarbamate complexes (Zn, Ni, Hg and Sn) based on an amine containing pyridyl and nitrile groups, 3-((pyridin-2-yl)methylamino)propanenitrile, were prepared and characterized by their elemental analysis, spectroscopic data (such as IR, 1H and 13C NMR), TGA analysis and X-ray crystallography of the Ni(II) complex. The presence of a band in the 1000 cm-1 region in the IR spectra, without any splitting, confirms the symmetrical bidentate bonding mode of the dithiocarbamate ligand. Also, the short thioureide C=N distance in the X-ray analysis of the Ni complex confirms the delocalization of π electrons over the S2CN moiety and strong double bond character between the carbon and...

The effect of structural defects on the electron transport of MoS 2 nanoribbons based on density functional theory

    , Article Journal of Theoretical and Applied Physics ; Volume 13, Issue 1 , 2019 , Pages 55-62 ; 22517227 (ISSN) Zakerian, F ; Fathipour, M ; Faez, R ; Darvish, G ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Using non-equilibrium Green’s function method and density functional theory, we study the effect of line structural defects on the electron transport of zigzag molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) nanoribbons. Here, the various types of non-stoichiometric line defects greatly affect the electron conductance of MoS 2 nanoribbons. Although such defects would be lead to the electron scattering, they can increase the transmission of charge carriers by creating new channels. In addition, the presence of S bridge defect in the zigzag MoS 2 nanoribbon leads to more the transmission of charge carriers in comparison with the Mo–Mo bond defect. Also, we find that the different atomic orbitals and their...

A joint experimental and computational study on the kinetic and mechanism of diallyl disulfide pyrolysis in the gas phase

    , Article Chemical Physics ; Volume 301, Issue 1 , 2004 , Pages 45-51 ; 03010104 (ISSN) Gholami, M. R ; Izadyar, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2004
    Abstract
A combined theoretical and experimental kinetic and mechanism of diallyl disulfide pyrolysis reaction in the gas phase was studied in a static system over the temperature range of 586.7-621.2 K and a total pressure of 72 Torr in the presence of cyclohexene as radicals inhibitor. The experimental results show that the reaction is homogeneous, unimolecular and proceeds through a radical mechanism. Theoretical calculations at the B3LYP level using the 6-31G*, 6-31++G* and 6-311++G* basis sets confirm the radical mechanism for the diallyl disulfide pyrolysis. The calculated kinetic and activation parameters especially at the B3LYP/6-31G* level are in good agreement with the experimental data. ©...

Oxidative Deprotection of Trimethylsilyl Ethers and Coupling of Thiols to Disulfides by Cr (VI) and Fe (III) Heterogeneous Nanocatalysts

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kakeshpour, Tayeb (Author) ; Saeedi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Rajabi, Fateme (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Considering the advantages of heterogeneous catalysts for the easy work up procedure, being eco-friendly, and the reusability, herein, two projects are carried out by metal-supported SBA-15 catalysts. The first one is the oxidative deprotection of trimethylsilyl ethers catalyzed Cr (VI) in the presence of TBHP as oxidant. In this project, trimethylsylil ethers are oxidized in good to high yields. The second project is the oxidative coupling of thiols to disulfides catalyzed by Fe (III) in the presence of hydrogenperoxide. This catalyst/oxidant system convets different aromatic thiols to corresponding disulfides efficiently

A density functional study of strong local magnetism creation on MoS 2 nanoribbon by sulfur vacancy

    , Article Nanoscale ; Volume 2, Issue 8 , 2010 , Pages 1429-1435 ; 20403364 (ISSN) Shidpour, R ; Manteghian, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
In this study a low-width MoS2 ribbon has been used for probing the electronic structure and local magnetic moment near vacancies. A theoretical study with the full-potential Density Functional Theory (DFT) approach (Wien2K code) have shown that when the dimension of MoS2 is reduced from 2-D to 1-D the nonmagnetic semi-conductor MoS2 becomes a magnetic conductor. Our study has shown that a vacancy on the S-edge with 50% coverage intensifies the magnetization of the edge of the MoS2 nanoribbon but such a vacancy on S-edge with 100% coverage causes this magnetic property to disappear. It is concluded that in both of them, there are positive or negative strong gradients of local magnetic moment...
