Modeling and prediction of future ecotourism conditions applying system dynamics

    , Article Environmental monitoring and assessment ; Volume 190, Issue 12 , 2018 , Pages 729- ; 15732959 (ISSN) Aliani, H ; Babaie Kafaky, S ; Monavari, S. M ; Dourani, K ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The ecotourism industry is one of the largest industries and has an important role in the economic social and cultural development of societies, especially in developing countries. Policymaking and planning procedures in this industry require the application of the methods that can appropriately model mutual and complex interactions and contacts. System dynamics is an accurate modeling method to simulate complex systems in a structured way and to design more effective policies by using these complex systems. In this study, the interactions and dynamics of the main components of ecotourism (effective variables) in the Taleghan area are modeled using system dynamics. To formulate and model...

Developing an Integrated Energy and Environment Management System in Industrial Parks. Case Study: Siri Island

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Azamian, Sara (Author) ; Saboohi, Yadollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Industrial parks represent integrated industrial systems where it helps implementing efficient measures for managing natural and fossil fuel resources and their impact on environment quality. In Iran, the most industrial parks have faced serious problems due to the irreversible effects on ecosystems. mass/energy flows management and optimization based on industrial ecology, can lead to minimizing the environmental impacts and to maximizing the value added of industrial parks simultaneously. In the present research, sustainable development in Siri island as Eco-industrial park in Iran has been investigated. The island includes: extraction, separation, operation and transportation of crude oil...

A fuzzy multi-criteria approach to sustainable island-based tourism development

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 28, Issue 2 , 2021 , Pages 682-699 ; 10263098 (ISSN) Abrishamchi, A ; Mounesan, A. A ; Maknoon, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Sharif University of Technology  2021
    Abstract
This paper aims to propose a framework by which decision-makers can evaluate and compare alternatives for sustainable island-based tourism development. The uncertainties and risks involved in information and judgment within the evaluation process were taken into account by using a hybrid approach, which combined the Delphi method, fuzzy set theory, and a discrete multi-criteria method based on prospect theory called TODIM (an acronym in Portuguese of interactive and multiple-criteria decision making). The decision making model examined 3 different techniques for aggregating the viewpoints of different decision-makers and explored how the aggregation technique would affect the ranking of the...

The tolerance level of the ecosystem as a limited constrain in the development planning

    Abstract
There are several methods for assessing ecosystem tolerance level, each method is defined according to the target of the ecosystem development. This paper seeks a way to plan for the development of the existing ecosystems modified for human activities. For this purpose, two methods have been applied to assess the effects of local development on the local ecosystem tailored to the different demands. Thus, after gathering data in a coastal region all technologies being capable to be applied in this region regarding ecotourism development (population growth) were determined. Via different indicators, the quality of the ecosystem was evaluated. The Ecosystem Quality Index (EQI) and Technique for...
