, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zeinali Khanghah, Mohammad Hossein (Author) ; Shad, Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, the Oil industry, much progress has been made in terms of increasing the productivity of reservoirs. In this method, generally one or more fluids are injected into wells to help, extract more oil from the reservoir. Knowledge of the main parameters in this flow of two or three phase fluid in the reservoir is most important. If fractured reservoirs are studied, the multiphase flow are much more complex and require more information about that. Unfortunately, due to the complexity of fractured reservoirs and fluid flow within them, little research has been done on them. The studies about two or three phase flow in fractured reservoirs are classified in two groups, modeling and laboratory...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hassanzadeh Naeini, Ali (Author) ; Moosavi, Ali (Supervisor) ; Shafiee, Afshin (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Hybrid photovoltaic thermal system (PV/T) is a pioneer mechanical and electrical system which can produce both thermal and electrical energy for domestic or industrial purposes. As the solar cell’s material is semiconductor, the electrical output of them reversely modifies with the reduction of solar cell’s operating temperature. One of the most operational and cost-effective methods that has been investigated is active cooling. The photovoltaic panel cools down with a channel under the PV’s rear surface and a fan in the channel outlet. The producing heat can warm up cold water of a house or a factory. In addition to active cooling, it is smart to utilize passive cooling such as artificial...

Numerical Simulation of Secondary Sedimentation Tanks to Increase the Efficiency

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Lak, Behzad (Author) ; Firoozabadi, Bahar (Supervisor) ; Afshin, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Sedimentation tanks are one of the important and costly stages of water treatment process in which remained particles from previous stages settle down due to gravity force. In this research, the hydrodynamics of secondary settling tanks without and in the presence of particles is numerically investigated using VOF method in order to simulate the interphase using RNG k-ε for turbulence modelling. The simulations are performed by means of open-source code OpenFoam, and the code is developed to model particles in the flow. The calculated velocity profiles using VOF method show a reasonable agreement with the experimental data. Comparing the concentration profiles with experiments shows the...

Load Sharing Control among Parallel Inverters for Achiving Maximum Efficiency

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Razavinasab, Mostafa (Author) ; Mokhtari, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Regarding increasing rate of electrical energy demand, paucity of fossil fuels and the pollution stemmed from burning them, using renewable energy is inevitable. For transmitting the generated electrical energy to grid, power electronics converters are used. Inverters and back-to-back converters are some of these converters. Inverters and back-to-back converters are used in connecting photovoltaic power plants and wind systems to grid respectively. Because of technological limitation, converters are paralleled with others at high power transmitting. Paralleling converters has other merits such as increasing system reliability through redundancy and repairing defective converter without...

Simulation and Optimization of Downhole Pumps with Focus on IOR Application in Iranian Fields

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rajaei, Mohammad Mahdi (Author) ; Shad, Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used in this study to investigate single and multi phase flow behavior related to three stages of ESP pump. Compared to experimental measurements, the numerical prediction for single phase flow of water is matched very well. Furthermore, the effects of viscosity and pump rotational speed for oil were investigated and the results show that by increasing oil viscosity and decreasing rotational speed, the pump head and efficiency reduced. ESP performance under two phase oil-methane flow and the effect of oil viscosity, rotational speed, intake pressure, gas bubble diameter, oil rate and gas volume fraction were studied. ESP boosting...

    Abstract
Delta-orthogonal multiple access (D-OMA) has been recently investigated as a potential technique to enhance the spectral efficiency in the sixth-generation (6G) networks. D-OMA enables partial overlapping of the adjacent sub-channels that are assigned to different clusters of users served by non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), at the expense of additional interference. In this paper, we analyze the performance of D-OMA in the uplink and develop a multi-objective optimization framework to maximize the uplink energy efficiency (EE) in a multi-access point (AP) network enabled by D-OMA. Specifically, we optimize the sub-channel and transmit power allocations of the users as well as the...
