    Valuation of dynamic reactive power support in multitransaction power systems

    Abstract
    This paper presents a reactive power valuation method with regard to its effect on realization of MW transactions. The security constraint optimization model in which the objective function is maximization of transactions is solved by the genetic algorithm approach. The proposed scheme allocates a specific amount of MW transactions to each dynamic reactive power source. An index is introduced to derive VAr value from the calculated optimal parameters of power network. This index represents the system-wide effect of MVAr sources on MW transactions implementations.     A new configuration of switched reluctance motor for reducing the torque ripple

    Abstract
    Switched reluctance motors (SRM) are one of the most reliable and cost effective motors and their applications are increasing in industry. However, it suffers from high level of torque ripple. In this paper, a new configuration for stator and rotor of SRM is presented. In the proposed method, a new saliency is developed to remove negative torque and therefore decrease torque ripple and acoustic noise, increase efficiency and as a result, expand speed range. The simulation results demonstrate that the new motor structure has a smooth torque profile with possibility to work at higher speed lower acoustic noise

    This paper introduces a stochastic dynamic power management policy for soft real-time systems. Such a system comprises a single processor with the capability of dynamic voltage scaling (DVS). The policy uses DVS to consume less power in the processor while satisfying some performance constraints. The idea is based on a Markovian model of the system, which presents an analytical technique for tuning the system parameters and evaluating the effectiveness of the policy. Real-time jobs arrive according to a Poisson process and have exponentially distributed service times and relative deadlines.     Link adaptation of a wireless cellular network is of much attention due to the desire of maximizing both the a erage lin throughput and co erage reliability, which have conflicting effect on each other. In this paper, the intra-cell lin adaptation problem is formulated as a non-differentiable constrained optimization problem to maximize average link throughput while guaranteeing the best possible coverage reliability.     A space vector modulation (SVM) approach is proposed to control a four-switch rectifier with power factor correction and compensating the effect of capacitors voltage ripple. The theory and performance of this method are presented, and the method effectiveness is demonstrated by extensive simulations. The simulation results show that the capacitor voltage ripple effects in the output voltage and current shaping can be omitted and the rectifier can work agreeably under high power factor condition although capacitors voltage is not balance.     Installing smart meters to publish real-time electricity rates has been controversial while it might lead to privacy concerns. Dispatched rates include fine-grained data on aggregate electricity consumption in a zone and could potentially be used to infer a household's pattern of energy use or its occupancy. This paper proposes a simple yet accurate instruction-level energy estimation model for embedded systems. As a case study, the model parameters were determined for a commonly used ARM7TDMI-based microcontroller.
