    , Article 2010 IEEE 10th International Conference on Signal Processing, ICSP2010, Beijing, China, 24 October 2010 through 28 October 2010 ; October , 2010 , Pages 1873-1876 ; 9781424458981 (ISBN) Mahdavi, A ; Pezeshk, A. M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
one of the main problems of radar identification in electronic warfare support system is analysis of pulse repetition interval (PRI) modulation. In this paper a robust method of recognizing the PRI modulation type of radar signals is proposed to improve robustness of previous recognition methods as well as to reduce the complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves much better error recognition rate in case of missing and spurious pulses than other methods such as autocorrelation based techniques and the Noone method

Optimal rabbit ear detection and suppression for electronic support receiver

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems ; Volume 51, Issue 1 , 2015 , Pages 304-313 ; 00189251 (ISSN) Lotfi, M ; Norouzi, Y ; Yahyaei, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Any channelized receiver suffers from a phenomenon referred to as the rabbit ear effect. This phenomenon appears when an out-of-band pulse generates a distorted response at the output of the selected filter. In this paper, the rabbit ear effect is analyzed, and a triband filter structure is proposed to identify and suppress the rabbit ear effect. The average likelihood detection strategy is adopted to optimize the parameters of the triband filter, as well as the detector structure. It is shown that although competing methods reject all short-duration pulses, the proposed system preserves all in-band pulses, while eliminating most of the out-of-band pulses (i.e., rabbit ear pulses)

Analysis and Design of Dual Polarization Vivaldi Antenna Array for 6-18GHz Range

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghayoori, Saeed (Author) ; Farzaneh, Forouhar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The main objective of this project is to analysis and design of ultra ultra wideband dual polarization vivaldi antenna array for electronic support measure system. In modern satellite communication and radar systems, antenna are required to have the characteristics of both ultra wide band and dual-polarization so as to satisfy various needs such as expanding the information volume, improving the quality of receiving information and increasing the ratio of bandwidth utilization. For this reason we first design a single element of vivaldi antenna for 6-18GHz range and then with design of SMA connector shown that result with and without SMA is same. In the next step we design(under...

Imaging Method To Detect Low Probability of Intercept Radars

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Hejazi Kookamari, Farzam (Author) ; Nayebi, Mohammad Mahdi (Supervisor) ; Norouzi, Yaser (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, a new passive method suitable for Geolocating LPI radars is introduced. The method uses two Electronic Support (ES) receivers placed on a fast moving platform (e.g., an airplane or a satellite). The proposed method has a high processing gain, which makes it highly suitable for very weak LPI signals. The processing gain of the method was analytically derived and illustrated with simulation to determine if the proposed method can detect LPI radars in much lower SNRs compared to regular time-frequency LPI detection methods. Also, the resolution of the proposed method in both range and cross-range direction in radar location finding was analyzed. Furthurmore, the effect of the...

    , Article 2014 International Radar Conference ; 2014 ; ISBN: 9781479941957 Hejazi, F ; Norouzi, Y ; Nayebi, M. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper a new passive imaging method is introduced that is mainly suitable for Geo-locating LPI radars. The method uses two Electronic Support (ES) receivers located on a fast moving platform (e.g. an airplane or a satellite). The proposed method has a high processing gain which makes it absolutely suitable against very weak LPI signals. It is also capable in radar location finding against complex radars and complicated electromagnetic environment

    Abstract
After receiving emitted signals from various radars by electronic support measures (ESM) system, several processes are applied to signals such as: deinterleaving, recognition of pulse repetition interval (PRI) modulation, PRI estimation and etc. Indeed, recognition of PRI modulation is an essential task of ESM system. In this paper a novel and robust method for recognition of complicated PRI Modulations is presented. This method uses specifications such as distribution related to members of sequences obtained from first and second order derivation of TOAs around a constant value and continuity of these sequences to recognize the PRI modulation. Some numerical simulations are performed to...

A new method for detection of complex Pulse Repetition Interval Modulations

    , Article International Conference on Signal Processing Proceedings, ICSP ; Volume 3 , 2012 , Pages 1705-1709 ; 9781467321945 (ISBN) Keshavarzi, M ; Pezeshk, A. M ; Farzaneh, F ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In an electronic warfare environment, an electronic support system receives signals emitted by different radars. One of the key tasks in an electronic support system is detection of Pulse Repetition Interval Modulation for these signals. In this paper we present a new robust and yet simple method for detection of complex PRI Modulation. Simulation results show that the proposed method is more robust against noise (spurious and missing pulses) and unwanted jitter than previous methods

    Abstract
The problem of estimating pulse repetition interval (PRI) of an interleaved pulse train which consist of several independent radar signals, is the main issue of signal processing in electronic support systems. PRI Transform algorithm is one of the well known and effective methods of PRI detection which is capable of detecting several close jittered signals and surpassing subharmonics, but have some drawbacks especially because of small PRI dynamic range and heavy computations. In this paper a modified PRI transform is introduced which manage wide range of PRIs simultaneously, and speed up the algorithm by significantly reducing the computations. Moreover an efficient threshold is set for...
