Study and Modeling of CHP Systems in Power Plant

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bagheri, Arash (Author) ; Bastani, Dariush (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the present study, a heat recovery system for a distributed generation plant (DG) with a 1 MW gas combustion engine has been designed. The purpose of this designing is converting the power plant to a CHP system. For the existing heat recovery system, a shell & tube heat exchanger is designed to recover the thermal energy from exhaust gases and a plate heat exchanger is designed to recover the thermal energy from the engine jacket cooling fluid. The heat exchanger design has been calculated manually and also by use of software. In the software calculation, the heat exchanger design has been done by use of the Aspen HTFS +2006.5 software. In the manual one, the Kern equation (1950) was...

Optimazing Tehran LDV Fleet Regarding Environmental and Economic Restrictions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Norouzi, Saeed (Author) ; Hosseini, Vahid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Tehran is the most populated area in Iran and is one of the most densely populated cities in the world where almost 40 percent of all days have been classified as unhealthy for sensitive groups. According to emission inventory of Tehran over than 85 percent of emission are due to different types of vehicles. And light duty vehicles share more than 80 percent all vehicles and are responsible for most of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides emitted in Tehran atmosphere. In this study real emission factor of Hybrid Synergy vehicles which just have been introduced to Tehran fleet were tested under real conditions of streets. Data produced in this research have been combined with previous...

Economic assessment of hydrogen fueling station, a case study for Iran

    , Article Renewable Energy ; Volume 33, Issue 12 , 2008 , Pages 2525-2531 ; 09601481 (ISSN) Qadrdan, M ; Shayegan, J ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In recent years there have been many efforts to develop a hydrogen energy system in Iran. For instance, the Iranian fuel cell steering committee conducted a project and determined some targets to implement hydrogen in different sectors, especially transportation. In this paper, the costs of building stations and the levelized cost of hydrogen for two types of stations, SMR and electrolysis, with various sizes and capacity factors have been investigated. Also, in the case of electrolysis, hydrogen cost sensitivity to the price of electricity has been examined. According to the cost analysis conducted here, it is understandable that hydrogen costs ($/kg) vary considerably based on station...
