    Abstract
The Persian Gulf is one of the aquatic ecosystems which has recently been faced with different pollutions. Cooling water discharges due to various industries such as power plants can cause important disorders on the present ecosystem balance and on aquatic creatures because of their high temperature. Thermal pollution leads to their migration, creates a potential for new coming species which in turn can thoroughly change the marine ecosystem feature. In this research, thermal pollution due to the Bandar Abbas Thermal Power Plant (BATP) development plan was modeled using MIKE21 software. In order to avoid a decrease in the power plant efficiency in the development plan, the distance between...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mortazavi Asadabad, Behnoosh (Author) ; Farhadi, Fathollah (Supervisor) ; Bozorgmehry Boozarjomehry, Ramin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The environmental impact of process plants is one of the causes of the environmental disturbance in the world. Including the effects of these destructive impacts can be mentioned to the phenomena such as global warming, climate change, severe air pollution and water shortage. Hence, the economic justification of a process, without the review of relevance of its environmental impacts, it does not lead to the implementation and construction of a process plant. For this reason, it is a requirement to provide a software platform (preferably object-oriented) for quick and automatic checking of this item and the exact determining of these effects. On the other hand, due to the complexity of the...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Vafa, Narges (Author) ; Firoozabadi, Bahar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, due to the decline of drinkable water, many desalination plants have been established and operated around the world. Disposal of these brines, which have higher density and temperature than receiving water, causes many environmental impacts. Industrial power plants discharge these effluents into the seawater body mostly as submerged jets due to their higher effectiveness. Many experimental researches have been done on the negative and positive buoyant jet that discharged form desalination plants. But a few numerical studies have been done with investigating the full Navior-Stokes equations and they have been flawed in modeling. For example, some of these models have been able to...

    Abstract
As producing and consuming of natural gas has increased in recent years, improving natural gas distribution and transfer network systems has become vital. Pressure reduction station (PRS) is an important part of the natural gas network. Common PRSs are facing two issues: first is the pressure reduction technology, which is throttling valve that destroys the exergy of the high pressure flow. The solution is to utilize turbo-expander instead which can recover the energy. Second is the preheating technology which is boiler and water bath heater in the common systems that cause environmental problems. Using solar collectors is one of the best solution based on the literature. Since the solar...

This paper aims to analyze Iran's long-term power sector development from economic, environmental, social, and sustainable perspectives. For this purpose, a linear programming model is developed, which includes three objective functions: minimization of costs, minimization of CO2 emissions, and maximization of created jobs. To provide a sustainable plan, analytical hierarchy process is employed to allocate expert-based weights to the objective functions. Moreover, to support the decision-makers, Pareto-optimal alternatives are explored by varying the weights of objectives. The multi-objective model is solved by applying a weighted method based on fuzzy membership functions. The results show...

    Abstract
One promising solution to achieve moderate or intense low-oxygen dilution (MILD) combustion under lower temperatures may be using non-equilibrium plasma discharge. Plasma assisted combustion can extend the flammability limits by reducing the auto-ignition temperature of the reactants and can be a great approach to achieve steady MILD combustion under extreme conditions through decreasing ignition delay time. In particular, the influence of the outlet flows from a co-flowing cylindrical dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) on the CH4/N2 combustion under MILD combustion has been investigated numerically through some simplifications on plasma discharge. A three streams coaxial burner are modeled...
