Evaluation of prepared natural polymers in the extraction of chlorobenzenes from environmental samples: sol–gel–based cellulose acetate-phenyltriethoxysilane fibers

    , Article Microchemical Journal ; Volume 142 , 2018 , Pages 265-272 ; 0026265X (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Golzari Aqda, T ; Enteshari Najafabadi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this research, three fibers including cellulose acetate (CA), CA–phenyltriethoxysilane (PTES) prepared via sol–gel electrospinning and sol–gel–based CA fibers immersed in PTES solution (dipped–CA–PTES) were prepared. The composition and morphology of the prepared fibers were evaluated by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy. The prepared fibers were implemented in a home–made needle trap device, followed by thermal desorption of the selected chlorobenzenes (CBs) to a gas chromatography–flame ionization detector. Finally, parameters affecting the extraction methodology such as the amount of sorbent, extraction time and temperature, desorption...

Novel unbreakable solid-phase microextraction fibers on stainless steel wire and application for the determination of oxadiargyl in environmental and agricultural samples in combination with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry

    , Article Talanta ; Vol. 128, issue , 2014 , Pages 231-236 ; ISSN: 00399140 Es-Haghi, A ; Baghernejad, M ; Bagheri, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Sol-gel based solid-phase microextraction fibers supported by a stainless steel wire were fabricated and employed for GC-MS determination of oxadiargyl in real samples. The fibers were based on four compounds with different polarity: polar and non-polar (end-capped) poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), polyethylene glycol (PEG), and poly(ethylene-propyleneglycol)-monobutyl ether (UCON). For this purpose, the surface of the stainless steel was initially modified by (3-mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane. The results of the modification procedure were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. After the modification, four different sol-gel based SPME fibers with...

Determination of 2,4-D in environmental samples by three phases directly suspended LPME combined with HPLC-UV

    , Article Analytical Methods ; Volume 3, Issue 10 , 2011 , Pages 2261-2267 ; 17599660 (ISSN) Amani, V ; Roshan, S ; Asgharinezhad, A. A ; Najafi, E ; Abedi, H ; Tavassoli, N ; Lotfi Zadeh Zhad, H. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Experimental design of directly suspended droplet liquid-liquid-liquid microextraction has been used to determine residue of 2,4-D, in environmental water samples. A free suspended droplet of 5.5 μL of receiving phase is delivered to the top-center position of 1-Octanol, which is an immiscible organic solvent, floating on the top of a 2.5 mL aqueous sample while being agitated by a stirring bar to create a mild vortex at the center of the vial. Central composite rotatable design has been used for studying the effect of the parameters, the factors interacting with each other and finding the optimum condition. The chromatographic separation was accomplished on a shim-Pak C18 column using a...

Toward a comprehensive microextraction/determination unit: A chip silicon rubber polyaniline-based system and its direct coupling with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry

    , Article Journal of Separation Science ; Volume 39, Issue 21 , 2016 , Pages 4227-4233 ; 16159306 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Allahdadlalouni, M ; Zamani, C ; Sharif University of Technology
    Wiley-VCH Verlag  2016
    Abstract
An inexpensive silicon rubber-based chip was constructed by fabricating a triangle-shaped microcanal with a 135 μm width and 234 μm depth by laser ablation technique. The fabricated groove was sealed by a thin glass cover while two pieces of stainless-steel tubing were connected to each side of the canal. Then, a thin polyaniline film was synthesized on the walls of the canal by chemical oxidation using a syringe pump to deliver the relevant reagents. The microfluidic system was eventually connected to a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. To evaluate the capability of the constructed microfluidic system, it was implemented to the analysis of submilliliter volumes of environmental samples...

A new strategy to design colorful ratiometric probes and its application to fluorescent detection of Hg(II)

    , Article Sensors and Actuators, B: Chemical ; Volume 259 , 2018 , Pages 894-899 ; 09254005 (ISSN) Ghasemi, F ; Hormozi Nezhad, M. R ; Mahmoudi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2018
    Abstract
A new strategy has been proposed to expand color-tunability of ratiometric fluorescent probes. It was shown that the combination of blue emissive color (as an internal standard) and yellow emissive color (as a probe) is an efficient way to create an extensive color range in ratiometric probes. However, due to the nature of the interaction between the analyte and the probe in terms of fluorescence quenching, occurance of the redshift in the emission is the major provision of such a probe. Our developed ratiometric fluorescence probe consists of blue emissive carbon dots (BCDs) and thioglycolic acid (TGA)-capped yellow emissive cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (YQDs). The ratiometric...

Novel nanofiber coatings prepared by electrospinning technique for headspace solid-phase microextraction of chlorobenzenes from environmental samples

    , Article Analytical Methods ; Volume 3, Issue 6 , Apr , 2011 , Pages 1284-1289 ; 17599660 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Aghakhani, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
Novel unbreakable solid phase microextraction (SPME) fiber coatings were fabricated by electrospinning method in which the polymeric solution was converted to nanofibers using high voltages. Four different polymers, polyurethane (PU), polycarbonate (PC), polyamide (PA) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) were prepared as the fiber coatings on thin stainless steel wires. The extraction efficiencies of new coatings were investigated by headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) of some environmentally important chlorobenzenes from aqueous samples followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Among them, PU showed a prominent efficiency. Effects of coating time and polymer...

    Abstract
A novel solid phase microextraction (SPME) fiber was fabricated by electrospinning method in which a polymeric solution was converted to nanofibers using high voltages. A thin stainless steel wire was coated by the network of polymeric nanofibers. The polymeric nanofiber coating on the wire was mechanically stable due to the fine and continuous nanofibers formation around the wire with a three dimensional structure. Polyamide (nylon 6), due to its suitable characteristics was used to prepare the unbreakable SPME nanofiber. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of this new coating showed a diameter range of 100-200nm for polyamide nanofibers with a homogeneous and porous surface...
