Manufacturing error compensation based on cutting tool location correction in machining processes

    , Article International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing ; Vol. 27, Issue. 11 , 29 Oct , 2014 , pp. 969-978 ; ISSN: 0951192X Khodaygan, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Inaccuracies in workpiece location lead to errors in position and orientation of machined features on the workpiece, and strongly affect the assemblability and the quality of the product. The accurate positioning of workpiece on a fixture is influenced by rigid body displacements and rotations of the workpiece due to several errors (e.g. geometric radial and position errors in locators and manufacturing tolerances of the workpiece). In this paper, an efficient approach is introduced for analysis and compensation errors in the workpiece-fixture-cutting tool system. A new mathematical formulation of workpiece-fixture modelling is proposed to establish the relationship between the locating...

    Abstract
In synchros and resolvers, brushes, and slip-rings produce a lot of noise in the output signal. Compared to encoders, the application of such position sensors in precision control systems is restricted because of their low accuracy. In this paper, a novel scheme of a brushless synchro is introduced. In this scheme, the primary and secondary windings are mounted on the stator, and the stator magnetic flux passes a certain path in the rotor with inducing voltage in the secondary winding. In this paper, a software method based on simple look-up table is used to enhance accuracy and reliability of the output signal of the proposed synchro. The operation principle of the brushless synchro is...

Compensation of transient error in sensorless alternating carrier injection scheme

    , Article IECON Proceedings (Industrial Electronics Conference) ; 2012 , Pages 1702-1706 ; 9781467324212 (ISBN) Ghazimoghadam, M. A ; Tahami, F ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
High frequency (HF) carrier injection schemes can estimate rotor position in a wide speed range. In these methods, first a HF voltage is injected to stator windings and then the corresponding HF current is exploited to estimate the position of rotor using a closed loop tracking observer. The tracking observer is capable to track rotor saliency with no steady state error. However when the motor starts to move or whenever the rotor speed changes a transient error appears. In this paper a new solution is proposed to compensate the transient error in estimation of rotor position

Transient error compensation in sensorless control of PMSM

    Abstract
Sensorless schemes based on HF carrier injection are capable of estimating rotor position in a wide speed range. In these schemes first an additional HF voltage is injected to stator windings. The corresponding HF current is decoupled from main stator currents and the position of the rotor saliency is estimated based on the decoupled HF current in a closed loop tracking observer. The tracking observer is capable of tracking rotor saliency with no steady state error. Transient error appears when the motor starts to move or whenever the rotor speed changes because of any disturbance or any change in the rotor speed command. In this paper a new solution is proposed in order to compensate for...

Chromatic dispersion and nonlinear phase noise compensation based on KLMS method

    , Article Optics Communications ; Volume 351 , September , 2015 , Pages 149-154 ; 00304018 (ISSN) Nouri, M ; Shayesteh, M. G ; Farhangian, N ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this study, kernel least mean square (KLMS) algorithm with fractionally spaced equalizing structure is proposed for electrical compensation of chromatic dispersion (CD) and nonlinear phase noise (NLPN) in a dual polarization optical communications system with coherent detection. We consider single mode fiber channel. At the receiver, the additive optical noise is represented as additive white Gaussian noise. Phase modification is utilized at high signal powers to maintain the validity of Gaussian model of noise. We consider QAM and PSK modulations and evaluate the performance of the proposed method in terms of error rate, phase error, and error vector magnitude (EVM). The results are...

    , Article European Signal Processing Conference, 28 August 2016 through 2 September 2016 ; Volume 2016-November , 2016 , Pages 2360-2364 ; 22195491 (ISSN) ; 9780992862657 (ISBN) Araghi, H ; Akhaee, M. A ; Amini, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Time-interleaved analog to digital converters (TI-ADC) offer high sampling rates by passing the input signal through C parallel low-rate ADCs. We can achieve C-times the sampling rate of a single ADC if all the shifts between the channels are identical. In practice, however, it is not possible to avoid mismatch among shifts. Besides, the samples are also subject to jitter noise. In this paper, we propose a blind method to mitigate the joint effects of sampling jitter and shift mismatch in the TI-ADC structure. We assume the input signal to be bandlimited and incorporate the jitter via a stochastic model. Next, we derive an approximate model based on a first-order Taylor series and use an...

    Abstract
Inertial navigation is a method for determining position and orientation of a vehicle, which operates according to Newton's laws of motion. Due to continual increase of output error because of measurement noise, bias, misalignment and so on, one may need one or more additional navigation systems to improve accuracy in long-Term navigation. In this paper, the error compensation based on GPS/INS data fusion algorithm is studied. Then, by designing a DSP processor-based hardware, GPS and INS data are recorded and GPS/INS data fusion algorithm is implemented. Results indicate that the accuracy of the positioning is improved and position, velocity, and orientation errors are confined to a limited...
