    Externally driven one-dimensional Ising model

    , Article Journal of Statistical Mechanics: Theory and Experiment ; Volume 2012, Issue 2 , Feb , 2012 ; 17425468 (ISSN) Aghamohammadi, A ; Aghamohammadi, C ; Khorrami, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A one-dimensional kinetic Ising model at a finite temperature on a semi-infinite lattice with time varying boundary spins is considered. Exact expressions for the expectation values of the spin at each site are obtained, in terms of the time dependent boundary condition and the initial conditions. The solution consists of a transient part which is due to the initial conditions, and a part driven by the boundary. The latter is an evanescent wave when the boundary spin is oscillating harmonically. Low-and high-frequency limits are investigated in greater detail. The total magnetization of the lattice is also obtained. It is seen that for any arbitrary rapidly varying boundary conditions, this...

Plaquette valence bond ordering in a J1-J2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on a honeycomb lattice

    , Article Journal of Physics Condensed Matter ; Volume 23, Issue 22 , 2011 ; 09538984 (ISSN) Mosadeq, H ; Shahbazi, F ; Jafari, S. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
We study an S = 1/2 Heisenberg model on the honeycomb lattice with first and second neighbor antiferromagnetic exchange (J1-J2 model), employing exact diagonalization in both the Sz = 0 basis and nearest neighbor singlet valence bond (NNVB) basis. We find that for 0.2 < J2/J1 < 0.3, the NNVB basis gives a proper description of the ground state in comparison with the exact results. By analyzing the dimer-dimer as well as the plaquette-plaquette correlations and also defining appropriate structure factors, we investigate possible symmetry breaking states as the candidates for the ground state in the frustrated region. We provide a body of evidence in favor of plaquette valence bond ordering...

    Abstract
In this article, I have tried to design an intelligent system which can separate and classify perfect and defective circular plates according to their size. After preprocessing, specifications of defects and size are determined through image processing, and finally, a system is proposed through perceptron neural networks methods, neuro fuzzy method, and Lvq to separate these products on basis of their size and defects. In the designing of this system, when input and its related intend is obvious before training network, perceptron neural networks give more exact results. If input and its related output have been clarified but the output have been related to some sub-inputs, lvq method is...

Hydrodynamic and thermal characteristics of combined electroosmotic and pressure driven flow in a microannulus

    Abstract
The present study considers both the hydrodynamic and thermal characteristics of combined electroosmotic and pressure driven flow in a microannulus. Analytical solutions are presented using the Debye-Hückel linearization along with the uniform Joule heating and negligible viscous dissipation assumptions, whereas exact results are achieved numerically. Here, the range of validity for the Debye-Hückel linearization is found to be about two times of that for a parallel plate microchannel. Accordingly, this linearization may successfully be used to evaluate the potential and velocity distributions up to the zeta potentials of 100 mV, provided that the dimensionless Debye-Hückel parameter is...
