A constrained multi-product pricing and inventory control problem

    , Article Applied Soft Computing Journal ; Volume 12, Issue 8 , 2012 , Pages 2454-2461 ; 15684946 (ISSN) Shavandi, H ; Mahlooji, H ; Nosratian, N. E ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The aim of this article is presenting a new constrained multi-product pricing and inventory model in which perishable products are put into three categories: substitute, complementary and independent. The general demand is found by considering the relations of different products and the impact of their prices. The goal of the model is deciding on the prices as well as the inventory and production decisions in order to maximize the total profit. The derived model is a non-linear programming model and a genetic algorithm is developed for its solution. To enhance the performance of our genetic algorithm, we apply the Taguchi experimental design method to tune the parameters of the algorithm....

Vanadium pentoxide catalyst over carbon-based nanomaterials for the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane

    , Article Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Research ; Volume 52, Issue 46 , 2013 , Pages 16128-16141 ; 08885885 (ISSN) Fattahi, M ; Kazemeini, M ; Khorasheh, F ; Rashidi, A. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
A series of V2O5 catalysts supported on multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT), single wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT), and graphene were synthesized by hydrothermal and reflux methods for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane (ODHP) to propylene. The catalysts were characterized by techniques including the BET surface area measurements, XRD, FTIR, H2-TPR, NH3-TPD, FESEM, and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The performance of the catalysts and the supports were subsequently examined in a fixed bed reactor. The main products were propylene, ethylene and CO x. The vanadium catalyst supported on graphene with C/V molar ratio of 1:1 synthesized through the hydrothermal method had the best...

Dextran-graft-poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) gels: A new biosorbent for fluoride removal of water

    , Article Designed Monomers and Polymers ; Volume 16, Issue 2 , 2013 , Pages 127-136 ; 1385772X (ISSN) Ahmari, A ; Mousavi, S. A ; Amini Fazl, A ; Amini Fazl, M. S ; Ahmari, R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Synthesis of dextran-graft-poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) gels as a new fluoride biosorbent was considered in this work. For this propose, the Taguchi experimental design method was used for optimizing the synthetic conditions of the gels to reach high level of fluoride absorbency. The effects of three main parameters including concentrations of monomer (hydroxyethyl methacrylate), crosslinking agent (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate), and initiator (ammonium persulfate) on the final properties of the prepared gels were investigated. The proposed mechanism for grafting and chemically crosslinking reactions was proved with equilibrium water absorption, Fourier-transformed infrared, scanning...

A study of the water-gas shift reaction in Ru-promoted Ir-catalysed methanol carbonylation utilising experimental design methodology

    , Article Chemical Engineering Science ; Volume 66, Issue 20 , October , 2011 , Pages 4798-4806 ; 00092509 (ISSN) Hosseinpour, V ; Kazemeini, M ; Mohammadrezaee, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
The water-gas shift reaction occurs competitively to the main reaction of the Ir-catalysed methanol carbonylation process. To study the effect of seven factors including temperature, pressure, iridium, ruthenium, methyl iodide, methyl acetate and water concentrations on the formation of hydrogen and carbon dioxide as a result of the water-gas shift reaction and other side reactions in the carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid, the experimental design method combined with response surface methodology (RSM) was utilised. Central composite design at five levels (with α=1.63) was used to design experiments. A quadratic model that included the main and interaction effects of variables for H 2...

Investigation and optimization of SDS and key parameters effect on the nickel electroless coatings properties by Taguchi method

    , Article Journal of Coatings Technology Research ; Volume 7, Issue 5 , 2010 , Pages 547-555 ; 15470091 (ISSN) Farzaneh, A ; Ehteshamzadeh, M ; Ghorbani, M ; Vazifeh Mehrabani, J ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
In this research, the influence of anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), pH, substrate finishing, and annealing temperature on the surface morphology and hardness of the electroless nickel phosphorus (ENi-P) coatings were studied. Taguchi's experimental design method was used. Parameters selected in three levels and L9 from orthogonal robust array design were employed. Surface roughnesses of the deposits were measured using a stylus instrument. Scanning electron microscope and x-ray diffraction analysis were implemented to study surface morphologies and phase composition, respectively. Microhardness of the ENi-P deposits was measured using a microhardness tester at three trials...
