Abstract
Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of the most popular approaches in the area of multiple attribute decision making (MADM). However, it is not practical any more if input information are fuzzy. In this paper, we propose a new method for fuzzy AHP which is especially useful to make decisions for multiple attribute problems. The method is developed by applying preference ratio concept which makes it practical since it assigns crisp weights and crisp scores to different alternatives. Two algorithms are proposed in this paper: The first one defines crisp and normalized weight by pairwise comparison with fuzzy data while the second one calculates fuzzy consistency ratio. The proposed method...
Application of fuzzy AHP approach for financial performance evaluation of iranian petrochemical sector
, Article Procedia Computer Science ; Vol. 31, issue , 2014 , p. 995-1004 ; Heshmati, M. R ; Ramezani, I ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
Organizational performance evaluation is a very vital and sensitive process in any industry. One of the most crucial aspects of performance assessment is consideration of financial performance evaluation. In this kind of evaluation, we face many criteria and index to performing and also designing a comprehensive and effective model. Thus, this situation can be regarded as a fuzzy multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem, so the fuzziness and uncertainty of subjective perception should be considered. In this paper performance evaluation of seven active companies in the petrochemical industries was evaluated using combined method of fuzzy and analytic hierarchy process. In this paper...

Abstract
Financial performance evaluation is a very crucial process for industries in current highly competitive environment. Therefore, designing an accurate and appropriate performance evaluation framework is beneficial for insiders and also shareholders of a company. To evaluate financial performance, we need to consider some financial indicators that reflect the competitiveness of a company. There are many financial indicators and criteria that are vague and can be regarded as a fuzzy multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem. In this paper, we developed a new financial performance evaluation framework to rank the companies in Iranian petrochemical industry based on fuzzy MCDM approach. To...
Incorporating experts knowledge in RTU placement procedure using fuzzy sets theory-a practical approach
, Article INTELEC, International Telecommunications Energy Conference (Proceedings), 9 October 2011 through 13 October 2011 ; October , 2011 , Page(s): 1 - 10 ; 02750473 (ISSN) ; 9781457712494 (ISBN) ; Razi Kazemi, A. A ; Karami, G ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
So far, the need for power systems to be control automated has been approached. Moreover, the advent of smart technological infrastructures calls for a more systematic and well-designed schemes for data acquisition process. Hence, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) are going to be considered as a crucial part of smart grid puzzle in power distribution systems. This paper aims to present a novel practical approach to have the RTU placement dilemma unraveled in power distribution systems. Practically approaching in this paper, some pragmatic factors of major importance in this respect are introduced. A framework with which the utility's experts' knowledge could be efficiently exploited is presented...
Application of a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process to the prediction of vibration during rock sawing
, Article Mining Science and Technology ; Volume 21, Issue 5 , 2011 , Pages 611-619 ; 16745264 (ISSN) ; Ataei, M ; Yousefi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
A new predictive model for evaluating the vibration of a sawing machine was developed using a new rock classification system. The predictors are machine parameters and a rock sawability index. The new rock classification system includes four major parameters of the rock: uniaxial compressive strength, abrasivity index, mean Moh's hardness, and Young's modulus. The FAHP approach was used when determining the weights of these parameters by six decision makers. Two groups of carbonate rocks were sawn using a fully-instrumented laboratory sawing rig at different feed rates and depths of cut. During the sawing trials system vibration was monitored as a measure of saw performance. Then, a new...
Critical component identification in reliability centered asset management of power distribution systems via fuzzy AHP
, Article IEEE Systems Journal ; Vol. 6, issue. 4 , 2012 , p. 593-602 ; ISSN: 19328184 ; Fotuhi-Firuzabad, M ; Bagheri-Shouraki, S ; Razi Kazemi, A. A ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
Confronted with the power system restructuring trend reforming the past-regulated power systems, the need for a narrower insight on the costly maintenance strategies seems imperative. It falls within the realm of reliability centered maintenance to enhance the cost effectiveness of power distribution maintenance policies. From a practical point of view, this paper devises a novel approach on the basis of the analytical hierarchical process (AHP) accompanied by fuzzy sets theory to determine the most critical component types of distribution power systems to be prioritized in maintenance scheduling. In the presence of many qualitative and quantitative attributes, fuzzy sets can effectively...
Sawability ranking of carbonate rock using fuzzy analytical hierarchy process and TOPSIS approaches
, Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 18, Issue 5 , 2011 , Pages 1106-1115 ; 10263098 (ISSN) ; Yousefi, R ; Ataei, M ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
The aim of this paper is developing a new hierarchical model to evaluate and rank the sawability (power consumption) of carbonate rock with the use of effective and major criteria, and simultaneously taking subjective judgments of decision makers into consideration. The proposed approach is based on the combination of Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) method with TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) methods. FAHP is used for determining the weights of the criteria by decision makers, and then rankings of carbonate rocks are determined by TOPSIS. The proposed method is applied for Iranian ornamental stone to evaluate the power consumption in rock...
