    , Article Contributions to Plasma Physics ; Volume 57, Issue 8 , 2017 , Pages 351-356 ; 08631042 (ISSN) Khodadadi Azadboni, F ; Mahdavi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The Weibel instability plays an important role in stopping hot electrons and energy deposition mechanism in fast ignition of inertial fusion process. In this paper, the ion Weibel instability in counter propagating electron-ion plasmas is investigate. The obtained results show that the growth rate of Weibel instability will be decreased about 40% with the anisotropy velocity as vxe = 2vze = 20; the ion density ratio, b = n0i1/n0i2, and density gradient, are increasing 50 and 90% respectively. The ion streaming in density gradient of dense plasma leads to increasing the Weibel instability growth rate and its amplification through ion streaming in the large wavenumber. The maximum unstable...

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2016
    Abstract
In this paper, a new form of generalized nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode control approach is proposed to provide the finite time tracking in connected chain of double integrator nonlinear systems subjected to additive bounded unknown uncertainties, disturbances, and internal interactions. The proposed approach presents an adjustable finite time for achieving the tracking goal which is a summation of two separate tunable times including finite reaching time and finite settling time. Tuning of the total finite time is done by adjusting arbitrary parameters in the control inputs and sliding surfaces. The high frequency switching of the control method is removed by applying a second order...

An Approach to Improve the Security of Big Data

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadian, Esmaeil (Author) ; Jalili, Rasool (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Different data sources are creating a huge amount of data at increasing speeds that require real-time processing. Such data is called “Big data stream". Although, mining and analysis this type of data is so useful for companies, but it also may cause many privacy breaches. The principle issues for big data stream’ anonymization are real time processing and information loss. There are some works that are proposed for data streams, but they have some drawbacks such as inefficient anonymization of big data stream and also not consider time expiration of tuples that lead to increase the information loss and cost of the data publishing. In this thesis, in order to speed up the ability of big data...

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery ; Volume 23, Issue 2 , 2008 , Pages 733-741 ; 08858977 (ISSN) Hassan Hosseini, S. M ; Vakilian, M ; Gharehpetian, G. B ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
The fast and very fast transient overvoltages can endanger the insulation of transformer windings. Therefore, it is necessary to develop models, to study these transients. This paper compares the two well-known multiconductor transmission line (MTL) and lumped parameter detailed (RLC ladder network) models. The high-voltage (HV) winding of a 220/35-kV, 50-MVA transformer has been modeled using these models. The simulation results of the MTL and the RLC ladder network models have been compared with the measurements results in the frequency domain, by application of the Pearson's correlation coefficients. It is shown that the RLC Ladder Network model should be used for fast transient...

Improving the Performance of the Fast Downward Planning System

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sadraei, Reza (Author) ; Ghasem Sani, Golamreza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The so-called “Fast Downward” is a successful heuristic planner. This planner extracts informative data structures during planning. A number of efforts have been made to detect some constraints for guiding search toward the goal, in the hope to speed up the planning process. These constraints usually result in a number of sub-goals and determining their proper ordering. These sub-goals are called landmarks, which must be true at some point in every valid solution plan. Landmarks can be used to decompose a given planning task into several smaller sub-tasks. In this dissertation a new method is proposed to extracts landmark and recognizes their ordering based on fast downward basic data...

    , Article Advanced Materials Interfaces ; Volume 3, Issue 11 , 2016 ; 21967350 (ISSN) Tavakoli, M. M ; Tavakoli, R ; Nourbakhsh, Z ; Waleed, A ; Virk, U. S ; Fan, Z ; Sharif University of Technology
    Wiley-VCH Verlag  2016
    Abstract
Fabrication of organohalide perovskite materials on the top of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) has some beneficial advantages such as room temperature processing; however, the perovskite is not stable on ZnO NPs layer during the annealing process. In fact, there are only a few reports about the fabrication of perovskite solar cells on ZnO NPs layer. Herein, the decomposition mechanism of CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite materials on ZnO is reported, and it is found that the perovskite film on the top of the ZnO layer is converted into PbI2 during the annealing process due to the existence of hydroxide groups on the surface of the ZnO NPs. Depending on the annealing temperature, the reaction rate and the...

    Abstract
In this paper an iterative method for recovery of the missing samples of signals is investigated in detail, and some novel linear, nonlinear, and adaptive extrapolation techniques are proposed to be used along with it to increase the convergence rate of the recovery system. The proposed methods would remarkably speed up the convergence rate, save processing power, and reduce the delay of the system compared to some well known accelerated versions of the aforementioned iterative algorithm. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. Abstract
This paper describes a novel approach will be called guided hill climbing to improve the efficiency of hill climbing in the planning domains. Unlike simple hill climbing, which evaluates the successor states without any particular order, guided hill climbing evaluates states according to an order recommended by an auxiliary guiding heuristic function. Guiding heuristic function is a self-adaptive and cost effective function based on the main heuristic function of hill climbing. To improve the performance of the method in various domains, we defined several heuristic functions and created a mechanism to choose appropriate functions for each particular domain. We applied the guiding method to...

Modelling and Electromechanical Control of Variable Speed wind Turbine in Order to Gain Maximum Wind Power

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Golnary, Farshad (Author) ; Moradi, Hamed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, the main purpose of the controller design is in the second region of operation of a wind turbine, which involves absorbing the maximum energy from the wind. WindPACT 1.5MW turbine has been investigated and the power coefficient of this turbine has been obtained using WT-PERF and FAST softwares. Simulations show that the results of both methods are well matched. Then, using ANFIS, a method for estimating the wind speed is derived from the data obtained by FAST. Inputs to the ANFIS system are the turbine aerodynamic power, rotor speed and blade pitch angle while the output of ANFIS system is the estimated wind speed. The maximum power coefficient of the wind turbine occurs...

    Abstract
Nickel nanostructure thin films were electrodeposited on copper plates to investigate the fractal study. Scharifker's equations were derived for instantaneous and progressive nucleation and 3D growth of hemispherical centres under diffusion-controlled condition to calculate in situ change of fractal dimension of surface. It was assumed that the layer could be formed completely when fractal dimension of surface inclined to 2. Moreover, the fractal analysis of atomic force microscopy (AFM) images has confirmed the presumed model. Also, the power values of power spectral density (PSD) of the AFM images were determined using fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithms. The PSD plots are approximated...

On the existence of canards in a nonlinear fluid system manifesting oscillatory behaviour

    , Article International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics ; Volume 98 , 2018 , Pages 58-63 ; 00207462 (ISSN) Fallah, H ; Lundberg, P ; Razvan, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2018
    Abstract
In an earlier study dealing with a nonlinear fluid oscillator governed by two autonomous ODEs, the solutions were found to display some aberrant characteristics adjacent to the boundaries of the oscillatory regime in parameter space. It was argued that this behaviour indicated the presence of canards. In the present study it is formally proved that this indeed is the case, and some numerical examples illustrating the phenomenon as well as its effects are presented. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd
