Theoretical modeling of reinfiltration process in naturally fractured reservoirs: A comparative study on traveling liquid bridges and continuum film flow approaches

    , Article Society of Petroleum Engineers - SPE/EAGE Reservoir Characterization and Simulation Conference 2009 - Overcoming Modeling Challenges to Optimize Recovery, 19 October 2009 through 21 October 2009, Abu Dhabi ; Volume 1 , 2009 , Pages 247-269 ; 9781615677443 (ISBN) Dejam, M ; Ghazanfari, M. Abstract
Most of the Iranian oil reservoirs are naturally fractured. Reinfiltration is a key proceess which controls oil flow from the upper to the lower matrix block. However, theoretical modeling of fracture aperture as well as fracture dip angle effects on flow rate of drained oil during reinfilteration process remains a topic of debate in the literature. Moreover, there is no reported experience in the literature that compared the oil velocity predicted by traveling oil bridges and continuum film flow approaches. In this work reinfiltration process is modeled through two different approaches: discrete traveling liquid elements and continuum film flow along inclined fractures. For a case study...

    Abstract
The objective of this paper is to provide optimization of falling film Li/Br solution on a horizontal single tube based on minimization of entropy generation. Flow regime is considered to be laminar, the effect of boiling has been ignored and wall temperature is constant. Velocity, temperature and concentration distributions are numerically determined and dimensionless correlations are obtained for predicting the average heat transfer coefficient and average evaporation factor on the horizontal tube. Thermodynamic imperfection due to passing lithium bromide solution is attributed to non-isothermal heat transfer; fluid flow friction and mass transfer irreversibility. Scale analysis shows that...

A numerical study on the absorption of water vapor into a film of aqueous LiBr falling along a vertical plate

    , Article Heat and Mass Transfer/Waerme- und Stoffuebertragung ; Volume 46, Issue 2 , 2009 , Pages 197-207 ; 09477411 (ISSN) Karami, S ; Farhanieh, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Absorber is an important component in absorption machines and its characteristics have significant effects on the overall efficiency of absorption machines. This article reports a model of simultaneous heat and mass transfer process in absorption of refrigerant vapor into a lithium bromide solution of water - cooled vertical plate absorber in the Reynolds number range of 5 < Re < 150. The boundary layer assumptions were used for the transport of mass, momentum and energy equations and the fully implicit finite difference method was employed to solve the governing equations in the film flow. Dependence of lithium bromide aqueous properties to the temperature and concentration and film...
