    Error estimation in smoothed particle hydrodynamics and a new scheme for second derivatives

    Abstract
    Several schemes for discretization of first and second derivatives are available in Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). Here, four schemes for approximation of the first derivative and three schemes for the second derivative are examined using a theoretical analysis based on Taylor series expansion both for regular and irregular particle distributions. Estimation of terms in the truncation errors shows that only the renormalized (the first-order consistent) scheme has acceptable convergence properties to approximate the first derivative.     In this study, nonlinear bending of functionally graded (FG) circular sector plates with simply supported radial edges subjected to transverse mechanical loading has been investigated. Based on the first-order shear deformation plate theory with von Karman strain-displacement relations, the nonlinear equilibrium equations of sector plates are obtained. Introducing a stress function and a potential function, the governing equations which are five non-linear coupled equations with total order of ten are reformulated into three uncoupled ones including one linear edge-zone equation and two nonlinear interior equations with total order of ten.     Abstract
    The goal of derivative sampling is to reconstruct a signal from the samples of the function and of its first-order derivative. In this paper, we consider this problem over a shift-invariant reconstruction subspace generated by two compact-support functions. We assume that the reconstruction subspace reproduces polynomials up to a certain degree. We then derive a lower bound on the sum of supports of its generators. Finally, we illustrate the tightness of our bound with some examples

    In an electronic warfare environment, an electronic support system receives signals emitted by different radars. One of the key tasks in an electronic support system is detection of Pulse Repetition Interval Modulation for these signals. In this paper we present a new robust and yet simple method for detection of complex PRI Modulation.     With increasing the share of wind farms in generation profile, their contribution to frequency regulation has become crucial. This study presents an optimal robust first-order frequency controller in the wind farms, which collectively emulates the inertial response as well as governor droop of synchronous generators.     TiO2 has a high bandgap energy with light absorption in the ultraviolet region making it non-efficient under visible-light. The purpose of the present work is to modify the properties of TiO2 by adding carbon and copper to its structure, in order to acquire an active nanostructure for photocatalytic oxidative desulfurization of model liquid fuel under visible light irradiation. In this regard, carbon doped TiO2 was first synthesized by a hydrothermal method, then Cu (II) were impregnated on carbon doped TiO2.     Abstract
    The direct laser sintering of Al-7Si-0.3Mg/SiC composites was studied. It is shown that the densification rate obeys first-order kinetics. The rate constant is found to increase at low SiC fractions but abruptly decreases at >∼5 vol.%. In the presence of ceramic particles, the melt track becomes more stable and a more continuous sintered surface is obtained. Meanwhile, significant reaction occurs between the aluminum melt and the reinforcement particles, leading to formation of Al4SiC4 and silicon particles.     Twitter sentiment analysis, which often focuses on predicting the polarity of tweets, has attracted increasing attention over the last years, in particular with the rise of deep learning (DL). In this paper, we propose a new task: predicting the predominant sentiment among (first-order) replies to a given tweet. Therefore, we created RETwEET, a large dataset of tweets and replies manually annotated with sentiment labels.     This paper deals with proportional stabilization and closed-loop step response identification of the fractional order counterparts of the unstable first order plus dead time (FOPDT) processes. At first, the necessary and sufficient condition for stabilizability of such processes by proportional controllers is found. Then, by assuming that a process of this kind has been stabilized by a proportional controller and the step response data of the closed-loop system is available, an algorithm is proposed for estimating the order and the parameters of an unstable fractional order model by using the mentioned data

    Abstract
    A method recently proposed for tuning fractional order [proportional integral] (FO[PI]) controllers is investigated. This tuning method, when applied in control of first-order plus dead time (FOPDT) processes, can ensure the desired phase margin, the desired gain crossover frequency and the flatness of the phase Bode plot at such a frequency. The necessary and sufficient condition for the applicability of the aforementioned tuning method is derived. Also, it is shown that this condition can be used in obtaining the achievable performance region of the tuning method in the gain crossover frequency-phase margin plane

    Abstract
    In this paper, an algebraic tuning rule is presented for fractional PI controllers to control first order plus dead-time processes. By using the performance map (PM) method, this tuning rule is derived in order to set the gain margin of the control system close to 3 and the phase margin close to 60 degrees. The robustness and performance of this tuning rule are compared with some well-known PI tuning rules. Simulation results are brought to demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of this tuning formula against process dynamic uncertainties in comparison with the other tuning methods

We show that the model shows an order-disorder transition from an ordered phase in low communication noise in which a consensus about the environmental state is formed to a disordered phase in high communication noise in which no consensus is formed.     We have derived an analytical equation of state (EOS) based on the soft-core statistical mechanical perturbation theory for fluids, using the Weeks-Chandler-Andersen (WCA) theory recently developed by Ben-Amotz-Stell (BAS) for the choice of the hard-sphere diameter, but with a new algorithm for calculation of the pair and many-body interactions.
