Efficient Implementation of Elliptic Curve Cryptography

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Salarifard, Raziyeh (Author) ; Bayat-Sarmadi, Siavash (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) has received attention because it can achieve the same security level as other classical asymmetric methods while using a key with smaller length. Although ECC is more efficient compared to AlGemal and RSA cryptosystems, fast computation of ECC is always desirable. Point multiplication is an essential operation in cryptographic computations. Low-latency and low-complexity multiplication architectures lead to more efficient cryptosystems. In this thesis, a fixed-base comb point multiplication method has been used to perform regular point multiplication. Additionally, two low-complexity (LC) and low-latency (LL) architectures for the regular point...

Efficient Implementation of Elliptic Curve Scalar Multiplication without Division and Inversion Operations

    Abstract
Elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) has received attention because it can achieve a security level similar to other asymmetric methods while using a key with smaller length. Although ECC is more efficient compared to other asymmetric methods, fast computation of ECC is always desirable. In this thesis,a fixed-base comb point multiplication method has been modified to perform regular point multiplication. Additionally, two low-complexity and lowlatency architectures for the modified point multiplication algorithm has been proposed. In order to achieve these architectures, a low-latency pipelined digit-level field multiplier for all national institute of standards and technology (NIST)...

Assessment of Soil-Structure Interaction Regulations in ASCE/SEI 7-10 Standard

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei Sameti, Amir (Author) ; Ghannad, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Usually the structures are designed based on the fixed-base assumption; however this assumption is not always correct and the bed flexibility should be considered. This effect which is called soil-structure interaction, change the response of structure on both elastic and inelastic behavior. In the regulations for the design of structures on flexible base, generallysoil-structure system is replaced with an equivalent fixed base structure; in the way that the design force of soil-structure system with reasonable accuracy can be estimated by equivalent fixed-base structure. In some regulations, dynamic characteristics of equivalent structure have been determined on elastic state and the...

Effects of support conditions and arrangement of prestressed rocking columns on the displacement of concrete frames under dynamic loads

    , Article Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering ; Volume 20, Issue 8 , 2022 , Pages 4175-4212 ; 1570761X (ISSN) Khodabakhshi, N ; Khaloo, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this paper, the effects of rocking and fixed base prestressed columns and conventional reinforced concrete columns on the response of frames are investigated. Also, the influence of some selected rocking base prestressed columns on the response of the concrete frame was studied. Three types of a concrete frame with conventional Reinforced Concrete columns, rocking, and fixed base prestressed columns were modeled using the finite element method in Opensees software. The details of the simulation of the rocking and fixed base columns in Opensees are described precisely. The results obtained from the models were compared with those of the literature to evaluate the validity of the results....

    Abstract
In this paper we propose to control a bipedal robot in an unstable position by means of a PID controller that gains are turned by a fuzzy logic system. For that, a model of planar 3 linked segment consisting of limb, trunk and extended arms with fixed base is used. Fuzzy if-then rules are constructed based on human expert knowledge and biomechanics studies for tuning of PID's gain. For construction of tuning rules, we have developed an optical measuring system to record experimental data of balance keeping of a human in an unstable position. The control model is based on three sets of different global variables: (1) limb orientation and its derivative, (2) trunk/upper attitude and its...
