Investigation into the effect of intake port geometric parameters and blockage on flow coefficient and in-cylinder flow: Application to engine port design

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Vol. 21, issue. 2 , 2014 , pp. 438-448 ; ISSN: 10263098 Mohammadebrahim, A ; Kazemzadeh Hannani, S ; Shafii, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method is employed to gain further insight into the characteristics of the in-cylinder flow field. Comparison between the measured and predicted results of the in-cylinder tumble flow and flow coefficient generated by a port-valve-liner assembly, on a steady-flow test bench, is presented, and a reasonably good level of agreement is achieved. A CAD parametric model of port geometry is created to enable variations, practically and quickly. Employing CFD analysis, the relationship between design parameters and port flow characteristics is established. The inuence of new blockage patterns on in-cylinder flow is also studied

Laboratory Evaluation of Multiplex Asymmetrical Triangular Sharp Edge Weir

    Abstract
This project is about crest triangular weirs. The discharge is a function of triangular angle and head of the water. There are so many projects that is about the effect of various parameters on the discharge of weir. In some places we can not use just one symmetric weir so we have to use multi weirs. Because of the lack of information in multiasymmetrical weirs, the goal of this project in studing multi triangular weirs in laboratory. We used the civil engeneering department of sharif university chanel that is 148 cm in width and 40 cm in height. In this project we used three 60, two 90 and two 45 triangular weirs that instaleed singular, double and triapple in various position in width. In...

Prediction of natural gas flow through chokes using support vector machine algorithm

    , Article Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering ; Vol. 18, issue , 2014 , pp. 155-163 ; ISSN: 18755100 Nejatian, I ; Kanani, M ; Arabloo, M ; Bahadori, A ; Zendehboudi, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In oil and gas fields, it is a common practice to flow liquid and gas mixtures through choke valves. In general, different types of primary valves are employed to control pressure and flow rate when the producing well directs the natural gas to the processing equipment. In this case, the valve normally is affected by elevated levels of flow (or velocity) as well as solid materials suspended in the gas phase (e.g., fine sand and other debris). Both surface and subsurface chokes may be installed to regulate flow rates and to protect the porous medium and surface facilities from unusual pressure instabilities. In this study a reliable, novel, computer based predictive model using Least-Squares...

Detection of regional copy/move forgery in MPEG videos using optical flow

    Abstract
With rapid proliferation of affordable video capturing devices and state-of-the-art video editing software tools, it is now easier than ever to manipulate video contents. In this paper a passive method for copy/move video forgery detection in MPEG videos is proposed. The method first divides each video frame into suspicious and apparently innocent parts. Subsequently, an optical flow coefficient is computed from each part. Forgeries are located when an unusual trend in the optical flow coefficient of the suspicious object is detected. Experiments on a set of forged and original sequences validate the justifications made by the proposed method
