    Abstract
In this study a novel symmetrical metal-free organic dye for applications in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) was synthesized. This dye (D) was designed with A-π-D-π-A framework and synthesized with 9,9-dioctylfluorene as electron donor, phenylene as π-spacer and cyanoacetic acid as electron acceptor. The chemical structure of product was determined using UV-Vis, FT-IR, CNMR, HNMR spectroscopy techniques. The presence of a phenylene π-bridge between the donor and the acceptor units and the di-anchoring moieties in this structure led to enhancement of conjugation lengths and molar extinction coefficient (ε) that is promising for further improvement of the conversion efficiency of DSSCs....

New grafted nanosilica-based sorbent for needle trap extraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from water samples followed by GC/MS

    , Article Chromatographia ; Volume 74, Issue 5-6 , September , 2011 , Pages 429-436 ; 00095893 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Roostaie, A ; Babanezhad, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
In this work, the preparation of a new grafted nanosilica-based sorbent was extensively investigated. An inexpensive modifier, cis-9-octadecenoic acid (oleic acid) was selected to be grafted on the surface of the nanosilica particles as the support. The grafting process was accurately confirmed by Fourier transform infra-red spectrometry (FT-IR). Applicability of the prepared sorbent was thoroughly examined by needle trap extraction (NTE) method. The grafted sorbent was dispersed in the appropriate solvent and carefully packed inside a steel needle. Feasibility of the method was completely examined using polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), as model compounds. For extraction of analytes...

An aniline-based fiber coating for solid phase microextraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from water followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry

    , Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1152, Issue 1-2 , 2007 , Pages 168-174 ; 00219673 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Babanezhad, E ; Eshaghi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
A fiber coating from polyaniline (PANI) was electrochemically prepared and employed for solid phase microextraction (SPME) of some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from water samples. The PANI film was directly electrodeposited on the platinum wire surface in sulfuric acid solution using cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique. The applicability of this coating was assessed employing a laboratory-made SPME device and gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for the extraction of some PAHs from the headspace of aqueous samples. Application of wider potential range in CV led to a PANI with more stability against the temperature. The homogeneity and the porous surface structure of the...

Implementing a superhydrophobic substrate in immersed solvent–supported microextraction as a novel strategy for determination of organic pollutants in water samples

    , Article Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety ; Volume 163 , 2018 , Pages 104-110 ; 01476513 (ISSN) Baktash, M. Y ; Asem Yousefi, A ; Bagheri, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this research, a new approach for extraction and determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from sea and rain water samples was developed by implementing a superhydrophobic substrate and consuming the least amount of solvent. This version of solvent–supported microextraction enabled us to perform the procedure in the immersion mode with the slightest troubles arising from water leakage into the gas chromatography. The superhydrophobic property leads to the fixation of extracting solvent on the substrate surface during water sampling. To prepare a superhydrophobic substrate, a piece of melamine foam was coated by tannic acid and silica nanoparticles using methyltrimethoxysilane and...

An unbreakable on-line approach towards sol-gel capillary microextraction

    , Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1218, Issue 26 , 2011 , Pages 3952-3957 ; 00219673 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Piri-Moghadam, H ; Es'haghi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
In this work a novel unbreakable sol-gel-based in-tube device for on-line solid phase microextraction (SPME) was developed. The inner surface of a copper tube, intended to be used as a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) loop, was electrodeposited by metallic Cu followed by the self assembled monolayers (SAM) of 3-(mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane (3MPTMOS). Then, poly (ethyleneglycol) (PEG) was chemically bonded to the -OH sites of the SAM already covering the inner surface of the copper loop using sol-gel technology. The homogeneity and the porous surface structure of the SAM and sol-gel coatings were examined using the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and adsorption/desorption...

A novel needle trap sorbent based on carbon nanotube-sol-gel for microextraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from aquatic media

    Abstract
A new type of composite material based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and sol-gel chemistry was prepared and used as sorbent for needle trap device (NTD). The synthesized composite was prepared in a way to disperse CNTs molecules in a sol-gel polymeric network. CNT/silica composites with different CNT doping levels were successfully prepared, and the extraction capability of each composite was evaluated. Effects of surfactant and the oxidation duration of CNTs on the extraction efficiency of synthesized composites were also investigated. The applicability of the synthesized sorbent was examined by developing a method based on needle trap extraction (NTE) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry...
