Modeling and Optimization of Composite Brake Friction Materials Formulation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khazaei, Ali (Author) ; Shojaei, Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Automotive brake pad is one of the most widely used composites. Commonly, more than 10 components are applied to make these materials and due to the large number of components and interactions between them, choice, explaination of the behavior and optimization of brake friction materials are some industry's challenges. Until now, some methods have been presented to design and optimization of these materials, but due to different complexities, there is lack of practical method that could be used for explaining the tribological behavior, engineering calculation and optimization of brake friction materials. Today, formulation of the current brake pads in the industry has mainly come from trial...

Simulation of Road Freight Transport Companies with Stochastic Demand

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mokhtarian, Amir (Author) ; Samimi, Amir (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study has added strategies to the decisions of road freight transport companies in their agent-based model. Added strategies are related to the company's supply management and in response to current and future demands. By forecasting future demand, uncertainty is to be present in this part of the demand. Firms use vehicle routing algorithms to meet existing demand, and car Sharing approaches to the second strategy. The algorithm used in the first strategy is a meta-heuristic algorithm called simulated annealing. For the second strategy, two scenarios are added to the simulation model, and in the second scenario, which is a more accurate scenario, the problem in question is defined in...

Investigating the Challenges of Seabed Drilling in Deep Waters and Designing the Optimal Drilling Fluid

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Samadi, Samad (Author) ; Ghazanfari, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor) ; Tahmasbi Nowtorki, Koorosh (Supervisor) ; Kalhor Mohammadi, Mojtaba (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
With the development of technology and the increase in the global need for energy, the drilling of oil and gas wells moves towards deep and ultra-deep waters, and since the drilling fluid plays an important role in the drilling operations, it requires drilling fluid with the characteristics It is a suitable function to overcome the serious challenges of drilling, including low temperature rheology and borehole heat transfer problems in these areas. The purpose of carrying out this research on the design of water-based and emulsion-based protective fluids is to use laboratory materials and equipment and conduct appropriate tests in order to evaluate the observations and tests performed in...
