    Abstract
HAp and HAp/ZrO2 composite coatings were successfully electrodepesited on 316L stainless steel substrates in the solutions containing ZrO2 particles at different concentrations. The effects of ZrO2 content on characteristics of the coatings were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and bonding strength test. Polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements were carried out in order to evaluate corrosion behavior of the coatings. In-vitro test in SBF and further SEM observations were performed to examine bioactivity of the coatings. HAp/ZrO2 composite coatings showed better...

    , Article Journal of Physical Chemistry C ; Volume 121, Issue 12 , 2017 , Pages 6508-6519 ; 19327447 (ISSN) Asen, P ; Shahrokhian, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A simple and low-cost electrochemical deposition method is used to prepare reduced graphene oxide/polypyrrole/Cu2O-Cu(OH)2 (RGO/PPy/Cu2O-Cu(OH)2) ternary nanocomposites as the electrode material for supercapacitor application. First, graphene oxide-polypyrrole (GO/PPy) nanocomposite is electrochemically synthesized on Ni foam by electro-oxidation of pyrrole monomer in an aqueous solution containing GO and Tiron. Subsequently, the GO/PPy film is converted to the corresponding reduced form (RGO/PPy) by an effective and eco-friendly electrochemical reduction method. Then, a thin layer of Cu2O-Cu(OH)2 is formed on RGO/PPy film by chronoamperometry. The RGO/PPy/Cu2O-Cu(OH)2 nanocomposite is...

    Abstract
Three-dimensional porous scaffolds are essential in tissue engineering applications. One of the most conventional methods to form porosity in scaffolds is freeze-drying, which is not energy efficient and cost effective. Therefore in this work, it was experimentally investigated whether gelatin, with its unique mechanical properties and cell binding applications, could be used as a comprising polymer of scaffolds with porous structure made by the freeze-gelation method. Chitosan, gelatin and chitosan/gelatin scaffolds were fabricated by the freeze-gelation method and their behaviors, determined by analysis of scanning electron microscopy images, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,...

    Abstract
Electrospinning is an economical and alluring method to fabricate wound dressing mats from a variety of natural and synthetic materials. In this study, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and starch composite mats containing ciprofloxacin (CIP) loaded on titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2) were prepared. Fourier Transform Infrared spectra of CIP, synthesized TiO2 NPs, TiO2/CIP, and PVDF/starch composite mats are analyzed. Scanning electron microscopy images revealed that the fiber diameter of PVDF nanofibers thickens by increasing starch, which varies between 180 nm and 550 nm. Strain at break of PVDF, starch, PVDF/starch (2:1 w:w; P2S1), PVDF/starch (1:1 w:w; P1S1), PVDF/starch (1:2 w:w;...

The study of electrodeposition of hydroxyapatite-ZrO2-TiO2 nanocomposite coatings on 316 stainless steel

    Elsevier B.V  2018
    Abstract
In this research pure HA and HA-ZrO2-TiO2 nanocomposite coatings (named HZT coatings) were successfully synthesized by merging two usual electroplating methods. In order to deposit pure HA coating a particular saline solution of Calcium and Phosphate was prepared with pH = 4.2, thermodynamically rich of hydroxyapatite. XRD and FTIR studies prove the synthesis of hydroxyapatite during electrodeposition process. To synthesize composite coatings with rational molar ratios of composite agents to matrix, two different concentrations of ZrO2-TiO2 suspensions were added to Ca-P solution at the pH = 4.2 and electrodeposition process done similar to pure HA sample. XRD, FTIR and FESEM (EDS) analyses...

Vertically standing Cu2O nanosheets promoted flower-like PtPd nanostructures supported on reduced graphene oxide for methanol electro-oxidation

    , Article Electrochimica Acta ; Volume 259 , 2018 , Pages 36-47 ; 00134686 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Rezaee, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2018
    Abstract
The present study reports a simple electrochemical approach to the fabrication of a new nanocomposite containing PtPd nanoflowers (NFs) promoted with two-dimensional (2D) nanosheets (NSs) structure cuprous oxide (Cu2O) supported on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) (PtPd-NFs/Cu2O-NSs/rGO). Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectra, Raman spectroscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy are used for characterization of the PtPd-NPs/Cu2O-NPs/rGO. SEM images showed that vertical-standing arrays of Cu2O with an edge length up to 1 μm and thickness of about 20 nm are electrodeposited on the surface of rGO film. Also, PtPd needle-like NFs with visible and...

    Abstract
In this study, firstly, a double-reservoir and switchable prototype of a micro-chip along with the respective holders were fabricated. A cyclic desorption process using microliter volume of organic solvent was adopted to prevent any outdoor contamination. As extractive phases, two identical sheets of electrospun polyamide/polypyrrole/titania nanofibers were synthesized using core–shell electro-spinning technique and utilized for determination of memantine in plasma samples. Field emission scanning electron microscopy images showed a high degree of porosity and homogeneity throughout the sheet structure. Also, energy dispersive X-ray analysis confirmed the presence of titania, while the...

Both sides of the engraved microchannel were sandwiched by two synthesized sheets from polyamide/titania (PA/TiO2) hollow nanofibers as extractive phases. The inlet and outlet of the device were connected to the polyether ether ketone tubes, while a peristaltic pump was used to deliver both sample and desorbing solvent through the microchannel. The recorded scanning electron microscopy images from the surface of the synthesized PA/TiO2 nanofibers, exhibit a good degree of homogeneity and porosity...
