    Abstract
The small-signal gain coefficient and the saturation intensity of a copper vapor laser have been measured for both 510.6- and 578.2-nm transitions through the implementation of a discharge driven oscillatoramplifier configuration. Pressure dependence of the gain and saturation property of the laser has been investigated. © 2003 Optical Society of America

Experimental and numerical investigation of the effect of a speed bump on car noise emission level

    , Article Applied Acoustics ; Volume 68, Issue 11-12 , 2007 , Pages 1346-1356 ; 0003682X (ISSN) Behzad, M ; Hodaei, M ; Alimohammadi, I ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The noise emission level associated with two types of speed reducers has been investigated numerically and experimentally for different dimensions and different speeds of vehicle (20, 40 and 60 km/h) and zero acceleration. Numerical analysis has been performed using an FEM method in the ANSYS environment. The experiments show that for a bump of height 0.04 m, the peak noise level is increased by between 1 and 14 dB (A) whereas, for bump of height 0.055 m, the peak noise level increases by between 1 and 19 dB (A). There is an excellent agreement between the numerical and experimental results. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

Isolated high step-up switched-boost DC/DC converter with modified control method

    , Article IET Power Electronics ; Volume 12, Issue 14 , 2019 ; 17554535 (ISSN) Abbasi Aghdam Meinagh, F ; Babaei, E ; Tarzamni, H ; Kolahian, P ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this study, a new isolated high-gain switched-boost DC/DC converter employing two symmetrical switched-boost networks along with a modified control algorithm based on the combination of the pulse-width modulation (PWM) and phase-shift modulation is proposed. Utilising symmetrical switched-boost networks increase the voltage gain of the proposed converter, significantly. Moreover, applying the proposed switching algorithm on the proposed isolated switched-boost DC/DC converter leads to the following advantages: (i) high-voltage gain, (ii) zero voltage switching (ZVS) turn-on of two switches, (iii) ZVS turnoff of two switches and (iv) appearing three controllable parameters (the...

    Abstract
The lack of turn-off ability makes the spark gap-based Marx generator uncontrollable in terminating the output pulse. In addition, there are some limitations for rise time and voltage gain improvements in the conventional critically-damped Marx design. In this paper, an efficient over-damped design of Marx circuit is proposed, which leads to a shorter rise time as well as a larger voltage gain. A chopping magnetic switch is employed to achieve the desired values of the fall time and full width at half maximum (FWHM). Moreover, adding a DC bias circuit to the magnetic switch provides the ability to adjust the pulse FWHM parameter. Therefore, an output pulse with a shorter rise time, larger...

    Abstract
This paper proposes a family of interleaved DC-DC converters for high step-up applications based on multi-winding coupled inductors, which utilize inductive and capacitive approaches to transfer the input energy to the output load. The wide output load voltage level of the proposed converter depends on the switches duty cycle and the coupled inductor (CI) turns ratio. As some features, interleaving and cascading help the converters achieve high output voltage gain, low input current ripple, low-volume input inductor, and high reliability. Moreover, employing multi-winding coupled inductors improves output voltage gain, recycles the magnetic components stored energy, cancels circulating...
