    Optimal design for gasoline supply chain planning in Iran: technical, economical, and environmental perspectives

    Abstract
    Taking into account the ever-increasing consumption of energy in the transportation sector in Iran, a supply chain model is here developed for gasoline as the main energy carrier. The model considers the satisfaction of demand as well as techno-economical constraints of all technologies while minimising the cost and the carbon footprint of the whole supply chain in order to reach sustainability in the Iranian transport sector. The model enables us to depict the optimal pathways from the wells to the end-users. The demand is here estimated using econometric approach in which the elasticity of gasoline price is the least and the GDP growth rate plays an active role. Six scenarios are defined...

    Abstract
    Energy resources in Iran consist of the fourth largest oil reserves and the second largest natural gas reserves in the world. At present, due to political reasons, the investment trend does not go over well. Based on the Fifth Development Strategy, Iran needs $200 billion of investment in the country's first industry (i.e. oil), and given the objectives of the perspective document, the country needs more than $500 billion investment during the next 15 years.     In natural gas transmission networks, the efficiency of daily operation is strongly dependent on our knowledge about the customer future demands. Unavailability of accurate demand forecasts makes it more important to be able to characterize the loads and quantify the corresponding uncertainty. A planning strategy for natural gas transmission networks under future demand uncertainty is addressed, which involves coupling of a gas transmission network dynamic simulator with the stochastic optimization framework.     The casing-collapse hazard is one that drilling engineers seek to mitigate with careful well design and operating procedures. However, certain rock formations and their fluid pressure and stress conditions are more prone to casing-collapse risks than others. The Gachsaran Formation in south west Iran, is one such formation, central to oil and gas resource exploration and development in the Zagros region and consisting of complex alternations of anhydrite, marl and salt.
