    Abstract
Globalization is one of the widely considered factors in today's manufacturing industries. This paradigm may be adopted for new technologies such as additive manufacturing. Additive manufacturing has been identified as an innovative manufacturing technology in recent years. The characteristics of this manufacturing technology, especially its support for quick design to manufacturing, have dominated it as an efficient generation of manufacturing techniques for today's global manufacturing paradigm. This article discusses the requirements and necessities of additive manufacturing with respect to a globalized perspective. Considering the two major requirements studied as integration of...

C-MAN: a Novel Manufacturing Platform Based on Cloud Manufacturing Paradigm

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Fatahi Valilai, Omid (Author) ; Houshmand, Mahmoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The synergy of fundamental factors like changes in governmental policies, global expansions of the manufacturing industries and improvements in technology related to reliability of manufacturing information flow have created the global manufacturing revolution in the first years of the twenty-first century. The concept of global manufacturing enterprise potentially brings up benefits and opportunities for today’s manufacturing enterprises like reduction of manufacturing costs by utilizing low labor-cost countries, reduction of business risks and introduction of new markets as a new source for enterprise growth. However, it enforces enterprise to endure costs to adopt the global...

A platform for optimisation in distributed manufacturing enterprises based on cloud manufacturing paradigm

    , Article International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing ; Vol. 27, Issue 11 , 2 November , 2014 , pp. 1031-1054 ; ISSN: 0951192X Fatahi Valilai, O ; Houshmand, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The synergy of fundamental factors like changes in governmental policies, global expansions of the manufacturing industries and improvements in technology related to reliability of manufacturing information flow have created the global manufacturing revolution in the first years of the twenty-first century. Although the concept of global manufacturing enterprise has created benefits and opportunities for todays manufacturing enterprises, it has enforced enterprises to endure costs to adopt the global manufacturing solutions. Besides, considering the researches aimed to enable the global manufacturing paradigm, there is still a need for efficient solutions to fulfil the global product...

A novel solution for manufacturing interoperability fulfillment using interoperability service providers

    , Article 50th CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems, CIRP CMS 2017, 3 May 2017 through 5 May 2017 ; Volume 63 , 2017 , Pages 774-779 ; 22128271 (ISSN) Delaram, J ; Fatahi Valilai, O ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The cloud manufacturing paradigm has been known as one of the best solutions for today's competitive manufacturing environments. This paradigm insists on using a manufacturing service oriented approach for fulfilling the manufacturing enterprise resource management by the access to global availability of manufacturing services. The proposed service oriented approach covers a wide area of manufacturing resource management from infrastructures to platforms and applications. However, due to wide global distributions of manufacturing clouds, the service oriented architectures which are designed in the clouds cannot communicate with each other. This is mainly due to concentration of cloud...

    Abstract
In this paper a web based production system is proposed. This system consists of a web services agent to manage the receipt the order from the customer, a price agent to predict the price of the product for the customer, a decision agent to build up a virtual enterprise to manufacture and deliver of the product to the customer and make essential decisions of the system and a design and control agent to do the engineering tasks related to the production process of the product. This structure provides the production system with a high level of agility and flexibility. © 2019 IEEE
