    Abstract
This paper presents the results of a thorough analysis of applying power quality standards to a granite factory. It explains the procedure of determining power quality indices in a power system. The paper presents the field data and provides the results of statistical analysis in order to extract power quality indices. A comparison against standard limits is also given. The case study gives an overview of power quality in such customers and brings up some practical limitations when applying power quality standards. ©2006 IEEE

Correlation of specific ampere draw with rock brittleness indexes in rock sawing process

    , Article Archives of Mining Sciences ; Volume 56, Issue 4 , 2011 , Pages 777-788 ; 08607001 (ISSN) Mikaeil, R ; Ozcelik, Y ; Ataei, M ; Yousefi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the rock brittleness indexes on the specific ampere draw of the circular diamond saws. In this study, twelve rock types belonging to granite and carbonate rock were cut with two different types of circular diamond saws on a fully instrumented laboratory-sawing rig at different feed rate and depths of cut. Rock samples were collected from factories from Iran for laboratory tests and uniaxial compressive strength and tensile strength were determined. The brittleness of B 1 (the ratio of compressive strength to tensile strength), B 2 (the ratio of compressive strength minus tensile strength to compressive strength plus tensile strength), and...

Correlation of production rate of ornamental stone with rock brittleness indexes

    , Article Arabian Journal of Geosciences ; Volume 6, Issue 1 , 2013 , Pages 115-121 ; 18667511 (ISSN) Mikaeil, R ; Ataei, M ; Yousefi, R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The prediction of production rate in ornamental stones sawing is very important in cost estimation and process planning of the rock sawing plants. The main aim of this paper is finding a mathematical correlation between production rate and rock brittleness indexes. The utilized data have been collected from several stone factories in Iran. Seventeen different granite and carbonate rocks have been experienced sawing conditions with large-diameter circular saws. The laboratory tests such as uniaxial compressive strength and tensile strength, were carried out on the rock samples which were collected from these factories. The ratio of compressive strength to tensile strength (B1), the ratio of...

Proposing a new model to approximate the elasticity modulus of granite rock samples based on laboratory tests results

    , Article Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment ; 2017 , Pages 1-10 ; 14359529 (ISSN) Behzadafshar, K ; Esfandi Sarafraz, M ; Hasanipanah, M ; Mojtahedi, S. F. F ; Tahir, M. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
An accurate examination of deformability of rock samples in response to any change in stresses is deeply dependent on the reliable determination of properties of the rock as analysis inputs. Although Young’s modulus (E) can provide valuable characteristics of the rock material deformation, the direct determination of E is considered a time-consuming and complicated analysis. The present study is aimed to introduce a new hybrid intelligent model to predict the E of granitic rock samples. Hence, a series of granitic block samples were collected from the face of a water transfer tunnel excavated in Malaysia and transferred to laboratory to conduct rock index tests for E prediction. Rock index...

Robustness enhancement of optical flow sensors accuracy to surface texture variations using point tracking algorithm

    , Article 5th RSI International Conference on Robotics and Mechatronics, IcRoM 2017, 25 October 2017 through 27 October 2017 ; 2018 , Pages 406-410 ; 9781538657034 (ISBN) Takaloo, S ; Vossoughi, G ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Novel architecture of high precision localization using optical flow sensor (OFS) combined with Iterative Point Tracking Algorithm (IPTA) is proposed. This work focuses on attenuation of OFS' sensitivity dependency on texture of surface over which sensor is moving. The aim for the design of experimental setup is to verify how much a robustness of OFS's sensitivity on various surfaces improves. In this regard, four different surfaces' texture including iron, paper, textile and granite stone is opted. Experimental results indicate that sensor's resolution via IPTA on surfaces of iron, paper, textile and granite stone respectively equal to 382, 460, 528 and 448 CPI. Optimal value of the...
