Abstract
This paper presents a single-phase Cascaded H-Bridge (CHB) inverter for photovoltaic applications. The proposed control strategy permits the optimum control of each string of PV panels in different insolation conditions. Based on the presented mathematical analysis, an analytic constraint is derived to check the stable operation of the inverter. A modified MPPT control strategy is also proposed based on this new condition. This strategy enhances the stability margins of the system by changing the operating point of some PV arrays. In this approach, the extracted power from high power cell is reduced to prevent instability issue and to avoid injection of highly distorted current into the...

Abstract
We present a nonlinear geometric approach to fault detection and isolation (FDI) in a grid-connected inverter system. Open-switch faults in inverter power transistors together with faults in grid voltages and source current sensors are detected and isolated in the presence of disturbance. The detection process is based on dynamic model of an inverter, including a dc-bus capacitor and an output RL filter. The proposed FDI system does not rely on balanced or zero-sum conditions in the grid point and is functional under nonsinusoidal voltages and currents. IEEE

Abstract
Programmable AC Power Supply is a part of any Grid Simulator. Grid simulator is a system that, as a voltage source, can produce various power grid voltage waveforms in the output, and as a load, can draw different currents of ordinary loads from the power grid. The application of Grid Simulators is testing many grid connected systems, such as chargers, power supplies, PV inverters and etc. The purpose of this thesis is to design and build a 3 kW Programmable AC power supply, which can be used as a part of a grid simulator in future works. In this thesis, back to back converter topology is used for implementation of the programmable AC power supply. This back to back converter consists of an...
Power quality comparison of active islanding detection methods in a single phase PV grid connected inverter
, Article IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 5 July 2009 through 8 July 2009 ; 2009 , Pages 1852-1857 ; 9781424443499 (ISBN) ; Mokhtari, H ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
In this paper, the power quality of a single-phase photovoltaic grid connected inverter when uses active islanding detection methods is investigated. Two main groups of these methods are analyzed in this paper. The main focus is on the output power quality of PV sources for these methods. Also the variation of output current THD, while the output power changes, is explored. The variation of output current THD is measured when the parameters of active islanding detection method are changed, and the limitation of these parameters for complying power quality standards in the nominal output power is detected. ©2009 IEEE

Abstract
This paper presents a nonlinear geometric approach to fault detection and isolation (FDI) in grid-connected inverters. Faults are considered in inverter switches as well as in grid voltage and source current sensors. The FDI system is not sensitive to load variations or grid transients. No assumptions on balanced, zero-sum or sinusoidal form of voltages or currents are made. The resulting residual converges to zero in no-fault condition such that no threshold adjustment is needed. Simulations demonstrate performance of the proposed FDI system in presence of unknown disturbance. © 2018 IEEE

Abstract
In this paper, a reliable low power single phase grid-connected inverter for photovoltaic modules is proposed. The inverter has improved lifetime since large electrolytic capacitor is replaced with small film capacitor due to circuit topology, power processing and proper control scheme. Thus the main limiting component in single phase grid connected inverters is obviated. The proposed inverter consists of two power processing stages. First a dual active bridge (DAB) converter boosts the voltage of PV panel to approximately 440 V and eliminates impact of high dc bus voltage ripples. A proper feed forward control is proposed to regulate the dc bus voltage with high ripple. Simulation results...
Geometric-Based Fault Diagnosis in a Grid-Connected Inverter
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Namvar, Mehrzad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Inverters are the main utility in transmitting power from distributed generation (DG) systems toward grid and their safe and immune performance has become a major concern among the system designers. In addition to poor power transmittance, faults in inverter can harm other equipment such as DG and local load. Consequently different protections has been considered to increase the reliability of these systems. Some of these protections like fuses and varistors are implemented in the hardware while others are considered in the processor. In the later class of protections, fault detection and isolation (FDI) system has been the subject of intense investigation in inverters over the past two...

Abstract
DC-link voltage and output current control loops are two cascaded loops in the control structure of grid-connected inverters. A high DC-link voltage loop bandwidth (DCL-BW) provides more disturbance rejection capability for the control loop and is preferred from control system perspective. However, for stability issues, this BW is limited and must be sufficiently less than that of the current control loop. Among the different control schemes, instantaneous active reactive control (IARC) method provides the highest possible DCL-BW (i.e., 0.02 × switching frequency). Having this degree of freedom in the controller design, a proper methodology should be defined for selection of DCL-BW. In this...
Design and Implementation of Three Phase Regenerative Electronic AC Load
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Zolghadri, Mohammd Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Three-phase electronic loads are used to test the performance of various electrical devices such as power supplies, generators, and transformers. Conventional electronic loads are composed of passive components that consume the energy, so have low power density and efficiency and to manage the produced heat, massive cooling systems are required. Nowadays, to increase efficiency and power density, three-phase regenerative electronic AC loads have been developed. To return energy to the grid and control the input power factor, the structure of these loads is based on back-to-back converters. In this project, a 35 kVA three-phase regenerative electronic AC load is designed. To control the power...

, Article PEDSTC 2014 - 5th Annual International Power Electronics, Drive Systems and Technologies Conference ; Feb , 2014 , pp. 72-77 ; Karimi, Y ; Asadi, E ; Oraee, H ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
This paper presents an effective current injection method for a single phase grid-connected PV inverter with LCL filter. The main objective of the proposed control strategy is to compensate the resonance effect of the LCL filter. In the proposed control strategy, a resonance compensator is augmented to the conventional proportional resonance (PR) controller to attenuate current oscillations in resonance frequency of LCL filter. The proposed strategy robustly regulates the output current of grid connected inverter in various grid impedances and provides a high quality current injection capability for the PV inverter in harmonic polluted condition of the grid voltage. The performance of the...
