    Abstract
With the rapid development of micro/nano-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS), arch shaped resonators are becoming increasingly attractive for different applications. Nevertheless, the dynamics of bistable resonators is poorly understood, and the conditions for their appropriate performance are not well known. In this paper, an initially curved arch shaped MEMS resonator under combined DC and AC distributed electrostatic actuation is investigated. A reduced order model obtained from first mode Galerkin's decomposition method is used for numerical and analytical investigations. We have used the Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM) in order to derive analytical solutions both for the amplitude and...

Moreover, the HAM involves an auxiliary parameter, which renders the convergence param-eter of series solutions controllable, and increases the convergence, and...

Effects of increasing the voltage, midplane stretching, axial force and higher modes contribution on natural frequency are also studied. The anayltical results are in good agreement with the...

Study on Periodic Orbits in Nonlinear Fractional Order Systems Via Perturbation Methods

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Yazdani Jahromi, Masoud (Author) ; Salarieh, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Using fractional order calculus to model complex phenomena with combined behavior (i.e., dissipative, capacitive and inertia behavior) is one of the most recent research fields in the world. These accurate models lead to better understanding of the phenomena. For example, consider viscoelastic materials. In early models, dissipative behavior is separated from capacitive behavior but by using fractional order models, these two behaviors are considered simultaneously thus the complexity of the model would be reduced. To use fractional order models in real-life engineering applications, it is important to investigate the dynamics of these systems. Unfortunately, there are a few proper...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadi Hooyeh, Ali (Author) ; Ahmadian, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor) ; Firoozbakhsh, Keikhosrow (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Recently, micro-electromechanical systems have absorbed much attention due to their many applications in various industries, such as actuators, sensors, microswitches, and so on. These systems usually consist of a cantilever beam or a fixed-fixed beam in micro scale which can change shape under electrical force. In sensors and electrical actuators, Microbeams are under so much vibration that they undergo distortion and fracture in a short period of time. One way to prevent such phenomena is to use materials that have high flexibility during use and have a longer life span. In order to achieve this, the selection of nanocomposite microbeams which incorporate light materials as the matrix...

    Abstract
In this paper, distributions of stress and strain components of rotating disks with non-uniform thickness and material properties subjected to thermo-elasto-plastic loading are obtained by semi-exact method of Liao's homotopy analysis method (HAM) and finite element method (FEM). The materials are assumed to be elastic-linear strain hardening and isotropic. The analysis of rotating disk is based on Von Mises' yield criterion. A two dimensional plane stress analysis is used. The distribution of temperature is assumed to have power forms with the hotter point located at the outer surface of the disk. A mathematical technique of transformation has been proposed to solve the homotopy equations...
