Hub location problem considering an elastic demand

, Article CIE 2014 - 44th International Conference on Computers and Industrial Engineering and IMSS 2014 - 9th International Symposium on Intelligent Manufacturing and Service Systems, Joint International Symposium on "The Social Impacts of Developments in Information, Manufacturing and Service Systems" - Proceedings ; 2014 , pp. 581-588 Khosravi, Sh ; Akbari Jokar, M. Abstract
In most hub location problem in the literature, the demand is independent of the market share. However, especially about the services and products which are not essential, this assumption does not mirror the reality. Considering the elastic demand increases the complexity and solution of the problem. The elasticity of demand depends on the utility of available hub. For simplicity, we assume that the utility of hub nodes are additive. Utility of the nodes is based on the attraction of the facility on that node and also the decay function of distance. In this paper we propose a new model for hub location problem in an airline industry with elastic demand. In this problem, passengers use hubs...

Fair profit contract for a carrier collaboration framework in a green hub network under soft time-windows: Dual lexicographic max-min approach

    Abstract
This paper models a novel and practical bi-objective hub-location problem under a centralized carrier collaboration framework between one holding company and multiple carriers. The holding company first establishes a hub-and-spoke network in order to locate p hubs and to assign the center nodes to the located hubs. Then, it allocates the transportation routes of the hub network to the carriers. In contrast, the carriers should select an appropriate vehicle type to serve the transportation requests in a green hub network. The carriers are also able to meet the transportation requests within a certain time-window based on a soft time-window mechanism. Moreover, aiming to emphasize green...

Design of a reliable hub-and-spoke network using an interactive fuzzy goal programming

    Abstract
A Hub Location Problem (HLP) deals with finding the locations of hub facilities and assignment of demand nodes to established facilities. Hubs play a central role in many networks such as telecommunication networks and their unavailability may lead to network breakdown or poor service levels. An objective in design of a hub-and-spoke network is maximization of reliability to transfer flows. This paper puts forward design of a reliable single-allocation hub-and-spoke network using an interactive fuzzy goal programming. To model and solve the problem, a fuzzy goal programming approach was developed for design of network in an interactive manner between decision maker and the model. To validate...
