    Abstract
New advances in mobile-computer technology, together with the advent of wireless networking, introduce new requirements, capabilities and concerns to the computer science and industry. In this paper, we discuss the special requirements of file sharing in mobile environments. Then our proposed architecture for mobile file sharing (MobFish) is presented. Finally, we present an implementation of the proposed architecture based on its special design tactics. © 2006 by Knowledge Systems Institute Graduate School. All rights reserved

VirSense: A novel haptic device with fixed-base motors and a gravity compensation system

    , Article Industrial Robot ; Vol. 41, Issue. 1 , 2014 , pp. 37-49 ; ISSN: 0143991X Mashayekhi, A ; Nahvi, A ; Yazdani, M ; Moghadam, M. M ; Arbabtafti, M ; Norouzi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Purpose - This paper aims to present the design and implementation of VirSense, a novel six-DOF haptic interface system, with an emphasis on its gravity compensation and fixed-base motors. Design/methodology/approach - In this paper, the design and manufacture of the VirSense robot and its comparison with the existing haptic devices are presented. The kinematic analysis of the robot, design of the components, and manufacturing of the robot are explained as well. Findings - The proposed system is employed to generate a Virtual Sense (VirSense) with fixed-base motors and a spring compensation system for counterbalancing the torques generated by the weight of the links. The fixed bases of the...

Implementation-aware model analysis: The case of buffer-throughput tradeoff in streaming applications

    , Article Proceedings of the ACM SIGPLAN Conference on Languages, Compilers, and Tools for Embedded Systems (LCTES), 18 June 2015 through 19 June 2015 ; Volume 2015-June , 2015 , Pages 108-117 ; 9781450332576 (ISBN) Mirzazad Barijough, K ; Hashemi, M ; Khibin, V ; Ghiasi, S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Models of computation abstract away a number of implementation details in favor of well-defined semantics. While this has unquestionable benefits, we argue that analysis of models solely based on operational semantics (implementation oblivious analysis) is unfit to drive implementation design space exploration. Specifically, we study the tradeoff between buffer size and streaming throughput in applications modeled as synchronous data flow (SDF) graphs. We demonstrate the inherent inaccuracy of implementation-oblivious approach, which only considers SDF operational semantic. We propose a rigorous transformation, which equips the state of the art buffer-throughput tradeoff analysis technique...
