    Abstract
In this research, the effect of Fe2O3 content on the electrochromic properties of WO3 in thermally evaporated (WO3)1-x-(Fe2O3)x thin films (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.4) has been studied. The atomic composition of the deposited metal oxides was determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. The surface morphology of the thin films has been examined by atomic force microscopy. The surface roughness of all the films was measured about 1.3 nm with an average lateral grain size of 30 nm showing a smooth and nanostructured surface. The electrochromic properties of (WO3)1-x-(Fe2O3)x thin films deposited on ITO/glass substrate were studied in a LiClO4 + PC electrolyte by using ultraviolet-visible...

Theoretical calculation of scattering efficiency of isotropic and anisotropic scattering particles employed in nanostructured solar cells

    , Article Journal of Optics (United Kingdom) ; Vol. 16, issue. 5 , 2014 ; ISSN: 20408978 Sasanpour, P ; Mohammadpour, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Light scattering design in dye and quantum dot sensitized solar cells is one of the main concerns in enhancing their light harvesting efficiency, and also in improving their power conversion efficiency. Herein, we present a theoretical analysis to calculate the dependence of the light scattering efficiency in dye solar cells that have employed scattering agents with various sizes and morphologies incorporated in nanostructured photoanodes with different designs. Various isotropic and anisotropic nanostructures, including filled and hollow spheres, spherical voids, nanowires and hollow fibres in a size range of 100 nm to 900 nm, have been considered as scattering centres. The scattering...

The dependency of optical properties on density for hot pressed MgF2

    , Article Infrared Physics and Technology ; Volume 51, Issue 6 , 2008 , Pages 546-549 ; 13504495 (ISSN) Nofar, M ; Madaah Hosseini, H. R ; Asghari Shivaee, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The effects of the most important parameters of hot pressing, including temperature, time and pressure on densification, microstructure and infrared transparency of MgF2 ceramics are discussed. The results show that the absorption or scattering of incident radiation is strongly dependent on the amount of porosity. By increasing the temperature or the pressure, transparency at infrared wavelengths has been increased due to the rise in density. For the longer hot pressing times, a continuous increase in density and infrared transparency has been seen as well. Cold pressing before hot press has minor effects on the density and infrared transparency of MgF2. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights...

    Abstract
Metamaterials are manmade structures that have attained considerable attention over the past 2 decades in the modern fields like cloaking, sensing, and imaging owing to their ability to harness electromagnetic fields. In this regard, we have inspected the dielectric properties of the hyperbolic metamaterials (HMM) made of metallic nanorods and dielectric medium at the infrared wavelength regime. The periodically arranged subwavelength-sized metallic nanorods embedded in the silicon dioxide (SiO 2) substrate glass. The spacing between two adjacent nanorods is of subwavelength in size. Furthermore, effective permittivity of the metamaterial has been analyzed by employing the Maxwell Garnett...

    CdO/PSi/Si photo detector

    , Article International Journal of Nanotechnology ; Volume 6, Issue 10-11 , 2009 , Pages 997-1005 ; 14757435 (ISSN) Azarian, A ; Iraji zad, A ; Mahdavi, S. M ; Samadpoor, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In spite of various works which were carried out on CdO and porous Si (PSi) separately, the interesting properties of CdO/PSi/Si system are not known well. In this work, we study the photoconductivity of deposited CdO layer on PSi/Si system. PS and CdO layers were prepared by electrochemical anodisation of p-type crystalline silicon and pulsed laser deposition (PLD) of cadmium oxide target. Then samples were annealed in air at 500°C to increase their optical transmissions to a value as large as 90% for wavelengths above 700 nm. The XRD study reveals that the annealed films are polycrystalline with grain size of about 25 nm. SEM micrograph of the CdO/PSi/Si system indicates that CdO layer has...
