, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Bastani, Dariush (Supervisor) ; Safekordi, Ali Akbar (Supervisor) ; Lotfi, Marzieh (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
Surface phenomena and dynamic Interfacial properties play an important roles in gas- liquid and liquid-liquid multiphase process from various industrial applications to understand fundamental phenomena. However, there is no experimental equipment and efficient methods for quantitative and detail investigation of interfacial properties under fast and non-equilibrium dynamic condition due to mobility and refreshing of interface (such as rising bubble). Also existing models accompanied with a lot of simplifications which is not yet validated with a proper experimental data. development of laboratory equipment base on measuring momentary capillary pressure and presenting a new experimental...
Experimental Investigation of Interface Behavior between Polymer Concrete and Sand
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Toufigh, Vahab (Supervisor)
Abstract
The behavior of soil-structure interface plays an important role in the static and dynamic analysis of soil-structure systems. Development of new materials such as polymer concrete requires an understanding of the behavior and their interaction with other materials. In this investigation, the interface behavior between polymer concrete and ordinary concrete with sand was studied using interface direct shear tests. In order to find optimum content of epoxy resin for polymer concrete, a series of tensile and compressive tests were conducted. To study the mechanical properties of concretes-sand interfaces behavior two series of interface direct shear tests were conducted at three different...

Abstract
In this investigation, the behavior of the interface between polymer concrete and sand was studied. For this purpose, two sets of interface direct shear tests (over 40 tests) were conducted on the polymer concrete and sand interface. Moreover, two sets of tests (over 30 tests) were performed on the cement concrete and sand interface for comparison. Based on the experiments, the shear stress versus tangential displacement curves at different normal stresses, the interface friction angles, and the adhesion were obtained for each interface. Then, three different constitutive models proposed for interfaces were used to predict the observed response. Finally, after a quantitative comparison of...
