Algorithms of Scientometrics Including PageRank and its Generalization to the Interval Matrices

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Alizadeh, Zahra (Author) ; Mahmoodian, Ebadollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Due to the increasing number of research activities across the world, the academic societies are in the urgent need of appropriate criteria and methods for the evaluation of scientific publications. The term ‘Scientometrics’ has been coined to describe the methodology of aforementioned scientific assessment. Introduction of comprehensive and universal scientific rankings could provide inexperienced researchers with the opportunity to select most qualified publications for their literature reviews on the basis of such rankings. This procedure seems to be more convenient and reliable. In this framework, a review of most commonly used scientometric principles and methods are presented in the...

Decentralized integral controllability of linear uncertain systems with correlated and independent uncertainties

    Abstract
Decentralized integral controllability (DIC) is an important property of industrial and process multivariable control systems. In this paper, some of the previously proposed conditions for the study of the DIC of certain systems are extended to treat systems with correlated and independent uncertainty. These conditions are based on the concept of the stability of Polytopic and Interval family of matrices, and evaluation of the Lyapunov condition only at special vertices of these families. By comparison with previous sufficient conditions, and known necessary conditions, it is demonstrated that the newly proposed criteria are significantly less conservative, especially in the case of...

Improved bounds for the spectrum of interval matrices

    Abstract
This study presents new sufficient conditions for Hurwitz and Schur stability of interval matrices. Tight bounds for the spectrum of interval matrices are estimated using computationally simple optimisation problems. The conservativeness is reduced further by application of ordinary similarity transformation. A necessary and sufficient vertex based criterion for the stability of a subclass of interval systems in continuous and discrete-time cases is also proposed. This enables the spectra for this class of interval systems to be determined exactly. A selection of various examples adopted from existing literature is used to demonstrate the utility of the proposed criteria

New sufficient conditions for robust stability analysis of interval matrices

    Abstract
This letter presents new sufficient conditions for robust Hurwitz stability of interval matrices. The proposed conditions are based on two approaches: (i) finding a common Lyapunov matrix for the interval family and (ii) converting the robust stability problem into a robust non-singularity problem using Kronecker operations. The main contribution of the letter is to derive accurate and computationally simple optimal estimates of the robustness margin and spectral bound of general interval matrices. The evaluation of the condition relies on the solutions of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and eigenvalue problems, both of which are solved very efficiently. The improvements gained by using...
