"The Paakshooy": A Robotics Cell for Washing and Preparation of a Cropse for Burial Compatible with Islamic Laws, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Meghdari, Ali
Washing a dead person’s body and dressing the corpse prior to burial is an act of love and necessity in many religions. Since the deceased loses all bodily functions at time of death, cleaning the body to eliminate odors is generally a hard and unpleasant task for many to perform. It has also been reported that tens of thousands of microbes are present on every square centimeter of a human corpse which is always a health risk to the persons performing the task. Among Islamic nations, preparation of the corpse is usually carried out in washing rooms (Ghassalkhaneh) of cemeteries in large cities. This preparation consists of two important operations namely as washing of the corpse (Ghosl)...

In this piece of work, a gravity model is suggested as Iranian non-fuel export model to OIC countries. The most important results out of this model are the acquired coefficients of two variables, namely “ECO membership” and “Economic and Trade Freedom of Importer”. At first, we expected that for importer, being a member of ECO would increase the amount of trade with iran. Surprisingly, this is not what we see in a model. In fact, as ECO has not achieved any tangible success in increasing trade between its members, eastern Asian Muslim countries has become an important trade partner for iranians. This result is compatible with other pieces of researches about ECO. “Economic and Trade Freedom...

On the Possibility and Realization of a Science-Technology System Based on Religion, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Golshani, Mehdi
The worldview and value system can use a cognitive-normative framework to select and shape science and technology. Of course, this framework is not the sole factor in shaping and selecting science and technology. The context in which science and technology flourish is also an important factor. Thus a religious science and technology is possible. Furthermore one can find many examples in the contemporary science and technology which are rooted in a secular and naturalistic outlook., but one can shape a science and technology which are rooted in religious worldview and value system. These examples show that one can generate a religious type of science and technology ,but in order to do this...
Religious Science: Comparison of Golshani's and Javadi Amoli's Views, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Taghavi, Mostafa
Religious science, its nature, possibility, and the mechanism of achievement have come to the fore in recent years. In this thesis, Javadi Amoli’s and Golshani’s theories are compared in this respect. Javadi Amoli begins by situating the reason, and certain knowledge as its product, in the architecture of religious knowledge. Since this kind of knowledge unveils divine action, Amoli counts it as already divine in nature. Therefore, there would be no conflict between science and religion in principle, unless atheist scientists insist on drawing non-empirical conclusions from sciences. Other conflicts too are superficial and resolvable. Amoli sees the fault of current sciences, which should be...

To answer this question, first we explain the views of seven Muslim scholars who have theorized about technology from an Islamic viewpoint. We then set out Carl Mitcham's fourfold analysis of technology, and summarize the views of philosophers of technology on technological volition. This places us in a position to classify Muslim scholars' opinions on technological development under seven broad headings, namely: meeting human beings' needs, implementation of an Islamic culture and lifestyle, serving human beings, serving nature, understanding the splendor of creation, providing personal and social happiness,...
