Abstract
This paper presents stability analysis of a distributed generation (DG) controller (1), in an islanded mode, based on the Mapping Theorem and the Zero Exclusion Condition, and validates the results based on a laboratory scale experimental setup. The DG unit is interfaced to the host system through a voltage-sourced converter (VSC). The control strategy regulates the load voltage at the desired value in the islanded mode, despite uncertainties in the load parameters. The frequency of the island is controlled in an open loop manner by an internal oscillator. In this thesis an intelligent-based approach is proposed to detect islanding state for Photovoltaic (PV) and Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) units. Distributed generation (DG) technologies have achieved an intense progress during the last years. One of the appropriate ways to enter a DG system in the electrical network is through the use of microgrids. Because the majority of DG units are connected to the grid with power electronic converters, specific control strategies have been developed for these converters. Robust Control of an Islanded Microgrid Consisting of Parallel Connection of Multiple DG Units

Abstract
A robust decentralized control strategy for the islanded operation of a microgrid is proposed in this thesis. The microgrid consists of the parallel connection of several electronically-coupled distributed generation (DG) units. All DG units are connected to a point of common coupling (PCC) where a passive load is also connected. It is shown that the islanded microgrid can be modeled by an interconnected composite system comprising equal number of subsystems (to the DGs). A decentralized servomechanism controller for islanded (autonomous) operation of radial connection of two distributed generation (DG) units is proposed in this paper. Each DG unit utilizes a voltage-sourced converter (VSC) for interface to its dedicated load. The DG units and the loads are to operate in the islanded mode of operation. A linear time-invariant (LTI) robust servomechanism controller for islanded (autonomous) operation of a distributed generation (DG) unit and its local load is proposed. The DG unit utilizes a voltage-sourced converter (VSC) as the interface medium. This paper proposes a new control strategy for the islanded operation of a multi-bus medium voltage (MV) microgrid. The microgrid consists of several dispatchable electronically-coupled distributed generation (DG) units. Each DG unit supplies a local load which can be unbalanced due to the inclusion of single-phase loads.
