    Abstract
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) of less than 50 nm diameter were electrodeposited from cyanide solution by pulsating electric current on modified copper and indium tin oxide (ITO) films coated on glass. Morphology, size, and composition of the deposited AuNPs were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and field emission scanning electron microscopy. Effects of peak current density, pulse frequency, potassium iodide and cysteine on grain size, and morphology of the AuNPs were determined. Experiments showed that cathode current efficiency increases with the pulse frequency and the iodide ion. Size of the AuNPs increased with the current density. The number of...

    Abstract
This paper reports a simple, low-cost, and effective electrochemical technique for sensing and reducing CrVI based on a Au-Pd bimetallic nanoparticle (BNP)-decorated indium tin oxide (ITO) conducting glass electrode. It was observed that the Au-Pd BNP-decorated ITO electrode could significantly boost the electrochemical reduction of CrVI when compared with either Au nanoparticle- or Pd nanoparticle-decorated ITO electrodes. These BNP-decorated electrodes exhibited a wide linear concentration range of 0.001-100 μM, a very low detection limit (signal-to-noise ratio = 3) of 0.3 nM, and a high sensitivity of 1.701 μA μM-1. From electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, it was revealed that this...

    Abstract
In this study, we have investigated the use of electrodeposited Au-Pt nanoparticles (AuPtNPs) on indium tin oxide (ITO) for the detection of Hg2+ heavy ions in water samples. The mechanism of AuPtNP electrocrystallization on ITO glass in an aqueous solution containing 0.5 mM HAuCl4 + 0.5 mM H2PtCl6 is described for the first time. The nucleation mechanism of monometallic AuNPs on ITO was found to be progressive; however, a transition from progressive to instantaneous was observed for bimetallic AuPtNPs at elevated overpotentials. The modified ITOs were then assessed for the electrodetection of Hg2+ in aqueous media. It was shown by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) that the sensitivity of...

The role of TiO2 addition in ZnO nanocrystalline thin films: Variation of photoelectrochemical responsivity

    Abstract
In this study, the effects of TiO2 addition on the physical and photoelectrochemical properties of ZnO thin films have been investigated. The (TiO2)x-(ZnO)1-x nanocomposite thin films were dip-coated on both glass and indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated conducting glass substrates with various values of x, specifically 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.25 and 0.5. Optical properties of the samples were studied by UV-vis spectrophotometry in the range of 300-1100 nm. The optical spectra of the nanocomposite thin films showed high transparency in the visible region. The optical bandgap energy of the (TiO2)x-(ZnO)1-x films increased slightly with increasing values of x. The crystalline structure of the nanocomposite...
