    Abstract
    In this paper, we study the problem of coordinating two nodes which can only exchange information via a relay at limited rates. The nodes are allowed to do a two-round interactive two-way communication with the relay, after which they should be able to generate i.i.d. copies of two random variables with a given joint distribution within a vanishing total variation distance. We prove inner and outer bounds on the coordination capacity region for this problem. Our inner bound is proved using the technique of "output statistics of random binning" that has recently been developed by Yassaee, et al

    In this paper we study the problem of generation of dependent random variables, known as the coordination capacity [4], [5], in multiterminal networks. In this model m nodes of the network are observing i.i.d. repetitions of X (1), X (2),⋯, X (m) distributed according to q(x (1),⋯, x (m)). Given a joint distribution q(x (1),⋯,x (m), y (1), ⋯, y (m)), the final goal of the i th node is to construct the i.i.d. copies of Y (i) after the communication over the network where X (1), X (2),⋯, X (m), Y (1), Y (2),⋯, Y (m) are jointly distributed according to q(x (1), , x (m), y (1),⋯,y (m)). To do this, the nodes can exchange messages over the network at rates not exceeding the capacity constraints...

    Abstract
    In this paper, we investigate the problem of the empirical coordination in a triangular multiterminal network. A triangular multiterminal network consists of three terminals where two terminals observe two external i.i.d correlated sequences. The third terminal wishes to generate a sequence with desired empirical joint distribution. For this problem, we derive inner and outer bounds on the empirical coordination capacity region. It is shown that the capacity region of the degraded source network and the inner and outer bounds on the capacity region of the cascade multiterminal network can be directly obtained from our inner and outer bounds.     Abstract
    Cut-set bounds on achievable rates for network communication protocols are not in general tight. In this paper we introduce a new technique for proving converses for the problem of transmission of correlated sources in networks, that results in bounds that are tighter than the corresponding cut-set bounds. We also define the concept of "uncertainty region" which might be of independent interest. We provide a full characterization of this region for the case of two correlated random variables. The bounding technique works as follows: on one hand we show that if the communication problem is solvable, the uncertainty of certain random variables in the network with respect to imaginary parties...

    Abstract
    Marton's inner bound is the best known achievable region for a general discrete memoryless broadcast channel. To compute Marton's inner bound one has to solve an optimization problem over a set of joint distributions on the input and auxiliary random variables. The optimizers turn out to be structured in many cases. Finding properties of optimizers not only results in efficient evaluation of the region, but it may also help one to prove factorization of Marton's inner bound (and thus its optimality).     Enabling cooperation in a NOMA system is a promising approach to improve its performance. In this paper, we study the cooperation in a secure NOMA system, where the legitimate users are distributed uniformly in the network and the eavesdroppers are distributed according to a homogeneous Poisson point process.     Abstract
    One of the methods in limiting tensile stresses in arch dams and removing stress concentrations at the dam-foundation interface is setting the dam body on a concrete saddle called a Pulvino. In the present study, the effects of Pulvino and peripheral joints on the static behavior and seismic performance of arch dams are investigated. Dez Dam with a height of 203 m was selected as a case study and all contraction joints of the dam body were modeled using the discrete crack approach based on as-built drawings.     Abstract
    In the present study, a thermo-elastic-plastic model was developed in order to evaluate the residual stresses in dissimilar automatic tungsten inert gas (TIG) welds between plain carbon steel CK4 and a ferritic stainless steel AISI409. The effect of welding heat input on the magnitude and the distribution of residual stresses was investigated and the results of simulation were validated by X-ray diffraction measurements. It is shown that the calculated residual stresses are in good agreement with the residual stresses determined experimentally. It was found that the magnitudes of stresses at the weld center line increases with increasing the welding speed

    Abstract
    In this study, a thermo-mechanical model was utilized to investigate the effects of welding parameters on the distribution of residual stresses in dissimilar TIG welds of low carbon and ferritic stainless steels. To solve the governing thermal and mechanical problems, a finite element program, ANSYS, was employed while the different aspects such as welding sequence and dilution were considered in the numerical solution. To validate the predictions, the model results were compared with the residual stresses measured by X-ray diffraction technique and a reasonable agreement was found.
