    Abstract
The electro-mechanical impedance (EMI) method has been accepted as an effective technique for detecting damages in the Structural health monitoring (SHM). EMI at any point of the structure depends on material properties, geometry and boundary conditions that all appears in dynamic stiffness of the structure. In spite of the expensive experimental methods for measuring the mechanical impedance, or the cheaper one electromechanical impedance, of structures, various analytical methods could be substitutions for them. In this paper, an analytical method is developed to obtain the EMI response of L-shaped beams through calculating the dynamic stiffness of the structure. To verify the model, an...

Ductility Analysis of L & T Shaped Wall to Wall Connections of 3D Panels Subjected to Lateral & Gravity Loading

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sangaki, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Vafaei, Abolhassan (Supervisor) ; Kabir, Mohammad Zaman (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Iran requires basic changes in using construction materials and industrial system of house production due to its particular climatic conditions such as being located on the earthquake belt and social conditions such as lack of house. 3D panel is one of the best options for industrial construction and especially mass building.
In this thesis, different suggested designs for L & T shaped wall to wall connections of 3D panel under lateral-cyclic and gravity loading were modeled and analyzed by ANSYS software. Numerical analysis indicates that concrete perpendicular hank and welded wire mesh WWF 3/3/50/50 have positive effect on the ultimate strength and ductility of the connection. Hence,...

Designing a Closed-loop Supply Chain under Uncertainty Using Sample Average Approximation (SAA) Method

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Akbari, Sina (Author) ; Akhavan Niaki, Taghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
These days, most companies are creating Closed-loop Supply Chains or they are adding Reverse Supply Chain to their existing Forward Supply Chain. Reducing raw material consumption, profit, customer satisfaction and environmental laws are most important reasons of this phenomenon. In the Closed-loop Supply Chains, companies collect the end of life and the end of use products and then if the quality of the returned product is good enough, that product with be refurbished and will be sold again and if the quality of returned products is not good enough to be refurbished, companies will use its good parts in manufacturing new products and the rest of the parts would be sent to disposal centers....

Damage detection of L-shaped beam structure with a crack by electromechanical impedance response: analytical approach and experimental validation

    , Article Journal of Nondestructive Evaluation ; Volume 39, Issue 2 , 2020 Hamzeloo, S. R ; Barzegar, M ; Mohsenzadeh, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Damage detection and structural health monitoring using the electromechanical impedance method has been accepted as an effective technique between various approaches of nondestructive evaluation. Many efforts have been made on experimental methods for obtaining the impedance of structures. However, expensive experimental methods encourage researchers to develop theoretical models. In this paper, a new theoretical model is developed for damage detection of L-shaped beams, which are basic components in frame structures, with an embedded piezoelectric wafer active sensor. For this purpose, a chirp signal of voltage is used to activate a piezoelectric patch for inducing local strains that lead...

Monotonic behavior of C and L shaped angle shear connectors within steel-concrete composite beams: An experimental investigation

    , Article Steel and Composite Structures ; Volume 35, Issue 2 , 2020 , Pages 237-247 Shariati, M ; Tahmasbi, F ; Mehrabi, P ; Bahadori, A ; Toghroli, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Shear connectors are essential elements in the design of steel-concrete composite systems. These connectors are utilized to prevent the occurrence of potential slips at the interface of steel and concrete. The two types of shear connectors which have been recently employed in construction projects are C- and L-shaped connectors. In the current study, the behavior of C and L-shaped angle shear connectors is investigated experimentally. For this purpose, eight push-out tests were composed and subjected to monotonic loading. The load-slip curves and failure modes have been determined. Also, the shear strength of the connectors has been compared with previously developed relationships. Two...

Stochastic Programming Approach for Resource Assignment and Patient Scheduling

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Haghi, Maryam (Author) ; Modarres Yazdi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, we examine all decisions related to operating room planning and scheduling problem by considering uncertainty in surgery durations. To achieve this purpose, first, a mixed integer linear program is developed to determine the master surgical schedule. Then, two different approaches are investigated to model the weekly planning and scheduling of elective patients problem considering uncertain surgery durations. In the first approach, a unified model is proposed and an effective and efficient method, based on the recently introduced anarchic society optimization algorithm, is developed to solve the problem. In the second approach, first an advance scheduling problem is formulated...
