    Abstract
We propose a novel multi-parallel layer DCN architecture based on low radix FOS. Results show cost and power consumption reduction of 4 parallel-layer architecture is 60% and 26.7% with respect to the FatTree. © 2019 The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE)

Integrated forward and reverse logistics in cloud manufacturing: an agent-based multi-layer architecture and optimization via genetic algorithm

    , Article Production Engineering ; Volume 15, Issue 6 , 2021 , Pages 801-819 ; 09446524 (ISSN) Hamidi Moghaddam, S ; Akbaripour, H ; Houshmand, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Cloud manufacturing (CMfg) is a new service-oriented manufacturing paradigm that enables distributed collaboration between manufacturers. As logistics between geographically dispersed manufacturers is indispensable in CMfg environment, and the responsibility for the whole lifecycle of products becomes more important for manufacturers, we have taken into account both forward and reverse logistics services in CMfg. Unlike most of the research in the field, this paper not only addresses the special needs of CMfg system from reverse logistics perspective but also considers the transportation of returned products. For this purpose, an agent-based architecture for tackling reverse flows in CMfg is...

A hybrid three layer architecture for fire agent management in rescue simulation environment

    , Article International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems ; Volume 2, Issue 2 , 2005 , Pages 111-116 ; 17298806 (ISSN) Geramifard, A ; Nayeri, P ; Zamani Nasab, R ; Habibi, J ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This paper presents a new architecture called FAIS for impie- menting intelligent agents cooperating in a special Multi Agent environ- ment, namely the RoboCup Rescue Simulation System. This is a layered architecture which is customized for solving fire extinguishing problem. Structural decision making algorithms are combined with heuristic ones in this model, so its a hybrid architecture

Cloud-Based Global Supply Chain: A Conceptual Model and Multilayer Architecture

    , Article Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, Transactions of the ASME ; Volume 137, Issue 4 , 2015 ; 10871357 (ISSN) Akbaripour, H ; Houshmand, M ; Valilai, O. F ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The cloud manufacturing (C-Manufacturing) paradigm, as an advanced form of networked manufacturing, has recently been proposed based on a combination of existing manufacturing systems and emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, virtual manufacturing, agile manufacturing, manufacturing grid, Internet-of-things (IOT), and service-oriented technologies. In this study, through investigating the main goals of C-Manufacturing and today's hyper-competitive global marketplace circumstances, a prospective conceptual model called cloud-based global supply chain (CBGSC) has been developed which can overcome or mitigate the issues and risks associated with supply chain processes on a global...

An asynchronous dynamic Bayesian network for activity recognition in an ambient intelligent environment

    , Article ICPCA10 - 5th International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Applications, 1 December 2010 through 3 December 2010 ; December , 2010 , Pages 20-25 ; 9781424491421 (ISBN) Mirarmandehi, N ; Rabiee, H. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Ambient Intelligence is the future of computing where devices predict what users need and help them carry out their everyday life activities easier. To make this prediction possible these environments should be aware of the context. Activity recognition is one of the most complex problems in context-aware environments. In this paper we propose a layered Dynamic Bayesian Network (DBN) to recognize activities in an oral presentation. The layered architecture gives us the opportunity to recognize complex activities using the classification results of sensory data in the first layer regardless of the physical environment. Our model is event-driven meaning the classification takes place only when...

An architectural view to computer integrated manufacturing systems based onaxiomatic design theory

    , Article Computers in Industry ; Volume 100 , 2018 , Pages 96-114 ; 01663615 (ISSN) Delaram, J ; Fatahi Valilai, O ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The emergence of the globalization paradigm in manufacturing industry has changed the markets’ circumstances, and accordingly manufacturing systems need to be compatibilized with these situations. There are many solutions to assist manufacturing systems for this purpose. Computerized systems and their related solutions were being the most attractive ones for manufacturing systems in recent decade. Developing such systems and exploiting from the advantages of such solutions requires a consistent foundation. Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) emerged as a philosophy to provide such foundation, and to assist the computerized manufacturing solutions. Despite of the high potentials of the...
