, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Haji Jafari, Mohammad (Author) ; Banazadeh, Afshin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Cost Estimation plays an essential and role in UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) Projects. By increasing the complexity of new unmanned systems, the importance of this task augments. Additionally, up to now, a comprehensive approach has not been adopted internationally. But in parallel a number of international companies and organizations has developed specific methods by themselves; confined to their corporate.
This project pursues developing a complexity-based model for cost estimation of unmanned aerial vehicles, especially Jet UAVs. However, it’s anticipated that this model may be utilized for all kind of systems, but it seems that jet UAVs use it with a better and more reliable...

    Sustainability Assessment of Embankment Construction

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Iravani, Pooya (Author) ; Alvanchi, Amin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Damming projects always have been important while construction, operation and even demolition due to their major effects on society, environment and economy. Although researchers have focused on one or a few phases of construction projects to develop sustainable infrastructures, the research community has to consider long term effects of developments too. There are a variety of such effects that ignoring them will cause construction of not convenient infrastructures i.e. air pollution and over-consumption of energy resources while construction, operation and demolition. Therefore, it is suggested to consider life cycle assessments to include all bad effects in all phases of a project. Dams...

    Abstract
Nowadays the maintenance of the deteriorating structures is an important subject in industry and research. Due to the limitations of the budget and time, the optimization algorithms have been used widely to determine the best maintenance strategies to provide the more economical structures. On the other side, the Less life-cycle cost will result in less safe structures. As safety is a vital criterion for the users of a structural system, there is a severe need to make a suitable trade-off between cost and safety. So, the optimal maintenance strategies are those that fulfill both the safety and the economical requirements. In this paper, the reliability of the structural system is selected to...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Beheshtian, Behnam (Author) ; Esmaeil Pourestekanch, Homayun (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) is an assessment tool for studying the performance of systems in many fields of engineering. In earthquake engineering LCCA demands the calculation of the cost components that are related to the performance of the structure in multiple earthquake hazard levels. In this work structural performance required for LCC estimation is achieved by performing ET analysis, while Incremental static and dynamic analyses are two procedures that can be traditionally used for estimating the seismic capacity of structural systems. In this method the structure is subjected to an increasing accelerogram which its time represents ascending earthquake intensities corresponding to...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Haghani Baei, Ali (Author) ; Esmaeil Purestekanchi, Homayoun (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance and seismic costs for pre-designed bridges according to the Iranian Bridge Code, which maps and details are available in Code 294. In order to evaluate performance, seismic costs of a structures are determined over its life cycle and these costs are compared eventually. Seismic costs are divided into two parts of the initial cost and life cycle cost of the structure. The initial costs depend on the cost of constructing the bridge, but life cycle costs are depends on seismic damage for structure and its users over the useful life of the bridge. These damages include the cost of maintenance of the bridge over its useful life and the...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Asghari, Vahid (Author) ; Haj Kazem Kashani, Hamed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Infrastructure systems play a critical role in the economic and social activities of a community. Effective and continuous performance of these infrastructure systems is essential to the welfare and prosperity of the communities. Infrastructure systems comprise networks of interdependent assets that are built through a long and costly process. These assets are subject to a variety of factors that reduce the performance and reliability over time. These factors also increase the vulnerability of infrastructure assets in face of future probable hazards. In order to ensure the continuous and uninterrupted performance of infrastructure assets in post-hazard situations, asset managers should plan...

The mentioned item caused when earthquakes such as Kermanshah earthquake occurred, although a large number of buildings remained undamaged in terms of their structural, facades of these buildings collapsed. The details of the masonry facade, such as the metal wires mentioned in the codes, are not usually applied in Iran, and the connection...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Charkhtab Basim, Mohammad (Author) ; Esmaeil Pourestekanchi, Homayun (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent decades, large economic losses and social impacts following earthquakes and hurricanes have revealed the need for improved design criteria intended to reduce consequences including economic impacts to an acceptable level along with life protection. So, it is tried to express the expected performance of structures as financial and social criteria. Any assessment on earthquake consequences requires estimations of structural responses to seismic excitations. Endurance Time (ET) method as a dynamic procedure requiring reasonably reduced computational effort compared to other common time-history based procedures, is used to estimate the response of the structure in all levels of hazard...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghaderi Garakani, Majid (Author) ; Maleki, Shervin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays seismic designs of building structures are based on a life-safety criterion that made the structures do not collapse to compromise safety of human life in the structure, but they can be designed to experience some damage. However, this design method has permitted large economic losses due to the damage to the structural and non-structural components at rather moderate levels of seismic intensities. This led to a new concept about design approach called performance-based design that satisfies the life-safety objective at the same time, reduces the economic loss to an acceptable level. In this study, the use of energy dissipating damping devices to improve the performance of a...
