Modified Load Scheduling Using Smart Meters

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bahrami, Shahab (Author) ; Parniani, Mostafa (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Implementation of various incentive-based demand response strategies has great potential to decrease peak load growth and customer electricity bill cost. Using advanced metering and automatic demand management makes it possible to optimize energy consumption, to reduce grid loss, and to release generation capacities for the sake of providing sustainable electricity supply, and reducing electricity bills for the customers. With these objectives, this thesis examines the previously suggested load scheduling programs in both residential and industrial sectors, and proposes new practical strategies for load management. This thesis has mainly focuses on three subdivisions of load management...

Magnetic nanoparticles coated by acidic functionalized poly(amidoamine) dendrimer: Effective acidic organocatalyst

    , Article Catalysis Communications ; Volume 28 , 2012 , Pages 86-89 ; 15667367 (ISSN) Pourjavadi, A ; Hosseini, S. H ; Hosseini, S. T ; Aghayeemeibody, S. A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
A novel magnetic Br∅nsted acid catalyst was synthesized based on growing poly(amidoamine) dendrimers on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. After the dendronizing process, the MNP coated PAMAM was functionalized by chlorosulfuric acid to form an acid catalyst. Because of dendrimer coating of MNPs, catalyst shows good loading level of acidic groups on the surface. Also zwitterion nature of catalyst surface improves the catalytic activity. This new catalyst is proven to be highly effective in the synthesis of α-aminophosphonate compounds in a green way

Discussion of "optimal reconfiguration and capacitor allocation in radial distribution systems for energy losses minimization" by L.W. de Oliveira et al., International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems 32 (2010) 840-848

    , Article International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems ; Volume 42, Issue 1 , November , 2012 , Pages 701- ; 01420615 (ISSN) Rezaei, P ; Vakilian, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This article indicates the accurate method for load level calculation to solve the power flow problem when capacitor reactive power is involved. Using the correct method causes some changes in the results and conclusion stated in the discussed paper on optimal reconfiguration and capacitor placement in radial distribution systems

Reliability evaluation of an HVDC transmission system tapped by a VSC station

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery ; Vol. 25, issue. 3 , 2010 , p. 1962-1970 ; ISSN: 8858977 Zadkhast, S ; Fotuhi-Firuzabad, M ; Aminifar, F ; Billinton, R ; Faried, S. O ; Edris, A. -A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Reliability evaluation of multiterminal HVDC systems has received very little attention in the past. This paper presents reliability modeling and analysis of an HVDC transmission system incorporating a voltage-sourced converter (VSC) tapping station. The use of VSC tapping stations enables the supply of power along the route to areas with comparatively little consumption. In this paper, a comprehensive detailed reliability model is developed and then converted to a manageable and computationally efficient model. Using this equivalent reliability model, various reliability indices are calculated at the load point of the system and the impacts of the VSC tapping station on these indices are...

Optimal placement and sizing of distributed resources for congestion management considering cost/benefit analysis

    Abstract
Congestion management is one of the most important issues for secure and reliable system operations in deregulated electricity market. This paper presents a cost/worth analysis approach for optimal location and sizing of Distributed Resources (DRs) to mitigate congestion and increase security of the system. In order to reduce the solution space a priority of candidate buses is formed, then optimal location and sizing problem is discussed. To increase the accuracy of results, load duration curve is constituted and based on this curve different load levels are incorporated into this study. Proposed method considers economical factors such as congestion rent, deferred upgrading investment and...
