Threshold distances for transmission of EPR pairs through Pauli channels

    , Article Physics Letters, Section A: General, Atomic and Solid State Physics ; Volume 355, Issue 2 , 2006 , Pages 81-86 ; 03759601 (ISSN) Bayat, A ; Karimipour, V ; Marvian, I ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Assuming that Pauli channels simulate the effect of optical fibers on polarization entangled photons we theoretically find the threshold distance beyond which such pairs loose their entanglement. From the current experimental data and by taking into account all other loss factors, like absorption, we give estimates for these threshold distances. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

Derating of distribution transformers under non-linear loads using a combined analytical-finite elements approach

    Abstract
Supplying non-linear loads causes increased losses in transformers which eventually leads to their reduced life spans. Therefore, transformers are derated in order to protect them against premature loss of life. To do this, load losses including ohmic loss and winding eddy current (WEC) loss need to be estimated. This study suggests an improved analytical approach using finite element method (FEM) which includes all material characteristics and geometrical structures in order to calculate WEC loss under non-sinusoidal load current in each winding individually. By adopting this procedure, harmonic loss factor as a dominant parameter in transformers derating is estimated. By emphasising the...

Effects of magnetoelastic loads on free vibration characteristics of the magnetorheological-based sandwich beam

    Abstract
In this contribution, we have investigated the effects of magnetoelastic loads on free vibration characteristics of the magnetorheological-based sandwich beam. The considered sandwich beam consists of a magnetorheological core with elastic top and base layers. For these means, the structural governing equations are derived using the Hamilton principle and solved by the finite element method. The results are validated in comparison with the existing results in the literature. The effects of variation in the parameters such as magnetic field intensity and the thickness of the core and top layers on the deviation of the first natural frequency and the corresponding loss factor are studied as...

Torsional vibration analysis of a rotating tapered sandwich beam with magnetorheological elastomer core

    Abstract
In this study, the torsional vibration analysis of a rotating tapered sandwich beam with a magnetorheological elastomer core has been investigated. The magnetorheological elastomer material is used as a constrained damping layer embedded between two elastic constraining skins in order to improve the vibrational behavior of the sandwich beam. The three layers of the sandwich beam have rectangular cross-sections with symmetric arrangement. The problem formulation is set up based on the torsional theory of rectangular laminated plates. The assumed modes method and the Lagrange equations are used to derive the governing equations of motion of the system. The validity of the presented formulation...

Pr–Co co-doped BFO multiferroics nanomaterials for absorber applications

    , Article Ceramics International ; Volume 47, Issue 2 , 2021 , Pages 2144-2154 ; 02728842 (ISSN) Akhtar, M. N ; Yousaf, M ; Baqir, M. A ; Batoo, K. M ; Khan, M. A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Pr and Co co-doped BiFeO3 multiferroics of the following composition BiCoxPrxFe1-2xO3, where (x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20 and 0.25) were prepared via sol-gel route. XRD, FTIR, SEM, VSM and VNA were used to evaluate the structural, phase, morphological and electromagnetic properties of Pr and Co co-doped multiferroics. All the undoped and Pr–Co co-doped multiferroics were of single rhombohedral phased whereas at higher concentration the orthorhombic structure was present. FTIR analysis exhibited the presence of orthorhombic phase. SEM images revealed that the grains of Pr and Co doped multiferroics are circular and elliptical in shape. Dielectric and electromagnetic properties were...
