    Abstract
In Software Product Line (SPL), Configuration Management (CM) is a multi-dimensional problem. On the one hand, the Core Assets that constitute a configuration need to be managed, and on the other hand, each product in the product line that is built using a configuration must be managed, and furthermore, the management of all these configurations must be coordinated under a single process. Therefore, CM for product lines is more complex than for single systems. The CM of any software system involves four closely related activities: Change Management (ChM), Version Management (VM), Build Management (BM) and Release Management (RM). The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive CM model...

    Abstract
Purpose: In this paper, the joint replenishment problem is modeled for a two-level supply chain consisting of a single supplier and multiple retailers that use the vendor-managed inventory (VMI) policy for several products. This paper aims to find the optimal number of products to order in both policies, the optimal times at which each retailer orders the products in the traditional policy and the optimal times at which the supplier orders the product in the VMI policy. Design/methodology/approach: The problem is first formulated into the framework of a constrained integer nonlinear programming model; then, the problem is solved using a teacher-learner based optimization algorithm. As there...

Analytical model of the effect of tangent length between vertical curves on train derailments

, Article Application of Nanotechnology in Pavements, Geological Disasters, and Foundation Settlement Control Technology ; 2014 , Pages 40-45 Molan, A. M ; Khodabakhshi, A ; Aman, J. J. C ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Derailment is one of the most hazardous occurrences affecting the safety of railroad cars that must be prevented. The potential threat of derailment could be especially significant when length of tangent between vertical curves isn't long enough. Although the length of tangent between vertical curves could be relevant to railway safety, no research had been conducted to study its effect on derailment risk. The primary objective of this paper was to investigate the effect of tangent length between vertical curves on derailment. This study consisted of three major components: (1) review of 1999-2008 derailment reports in Iran, (2) a regression analysis, and (3) recommendation model for...

A decomposition approach in network revenue management: Special case of hotel

    , Article Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management ; Volume 12, Issue 5 , 2013 , Pages 451-463 ; 14766930 (ISSN) Aslani, S ; Modarres, M ; Sibdari, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
In this article, we address the multiple-night stay hotel revenue management. Using a decomposition method, we transform the multiple-night stay revenue management into a single night. To this end, we define effective arrival rate for each night that is derived from all the booking requests that contain the night, excluding the possible 'customer losses'. A customer is labeled 'loss' either because of the existence of an expensive night in his itinerary or because of a stock-out occurrence over his stay. We calculate the probabilities of these two incidents and then update the effective daily arrival rate, accordingly. In this way, we can use the classical single-night revenue management,...

Equilibrium pricing and ordering policies in a two-echelon supply chain in the presence of strategic customers

    , Article Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciencias ; Volume 88, Issue 2 , 2016 , Pages 1127-1150 ; 00013765 (ISSN) Sadjadi, S. J ; Naeij, J ; Shavandi, H ; Makui, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
This paper studying the impact of strategic customer behavior on decentralized supply chain gains and decisions, which includes a supplier, and a monopoly firm as a retailer who sells a single product over a finite two periods of selling season. We consider three types of customers: myopic, strategic and low-value customers. The problem is formulated as a bi-level game where at the second level (e.g. horizontal game), the retailer determines his/her equilibrium pricing strategy in a non-cooperative simultaneous general game with strategic customers who choose equilibrium purchasing strategy to maximize their expected surplus. At the first level (e.g. vertical game), the supplier competes...

Proposing an optimum model for time estimation of construction projects in Iranian gas refineries

    , Article Engineering Journal ; Volume 21, Issue 5 , 2017 , Pages 285-304 ; 01258281 (ISSN) Naderpour, A ; Majrouhi Sardroud, J ; Mofid, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Time management can be effective in a project when the project schedule is based on comprehensive time scheduling. In the industries with complicated processes, many uncertainties and risks affect the timing of projects. Considering the very low reliability of the project planning in certainty-based approach, using more secure models for control and interact with uncertainty should be placed on the agenda. Iranian Gas Company has been using risk management to manage probable uncertainties in construction projects but in the field of possible uncertainties, actions are very scarce. This article aims to propose an optimum model based on the integrated risk management and fuzzy expert systems...

A survey was then administered to 120 KM authors asking them to review which dimensions they considered in their own research. Findings: Three clusters of KM research were identified as follows: the socialization school, the collaboration school, and the codification school. Research limitations/implications: The study does not consider the dimension of strategic versus operational KM issues nor does it consider...

Service level based capacity rationing procedure for make-to-order manufacturing systems

    , Article International Journal of Engineering, Transactions A: Basics ; Volume 20, Issue 1 , 2007 , Pages 1-16 ; 17281431 (ISSN) Sharifyazdi, M ; Modarres, M ; Sharif University of Technology
Materials and Energy Research Center  2007
    Abstract
We extend a heuristic method within the framework of "dynamic capacity apportionment procedure" (DCAP) to allocate an existing capacity among the classes with different profit contributions. In general, DCAP is applied when some capacity shortage exists and can not be enhanced in short - run. Our proposed approach is constructed for a make - to - order manufacturing system that produces a variety of products while experiences a burst of demand in excess of capacity. Although, a higher level of profit can be gained by accepting more orders from higher priority classes at the expense of rejecting some or all of orders of lower priority classes, it may result in elimination of an existing...

    Abstract
In an increasing competitive world, marketing survival can be depended simply on timely new information on customers and market trend. One of the most important strategies in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is to capture enough information from customers and using this information carefully [17, 19]. Of course security of this information is very important in CRM data management [2]. Data management is a method for scheduling and controlling data saving, recovering and processing. This activity has been done continually or periodically [2]. Security level of this information depends on the security policy of the organization. CRM security policy is the directives and practices for...

    Abstract
As the role of IT becomes more eminent, IT management frameworks become more demanding. Although each of the IT management frameworks focuses on a particular part of this wide scope, implementing frameworks individually, wastes budget and time and results in incompatible or redundant artefacts. The question we want to answer in this research is if a comprehensive IT management methodology could be implemented to provide all the effective results of different IT management frameworks, yet to avoid redundancies and costs of implementing each framework separately. In this study, the integration of the ITIL framework as the most well-known IT service management framework, the COBIT framework as...

Every project is temporary and unique in nature. However, knowledge and lessons learned in projects may be used in other projects to improve the project management services. A learned lesson comes from past and current projects, captured through well-defined organizational processes. It aims to capture an essence of an experience which may be utilized to modify the project processes, or the situations for which that lesson applies. Although lessons learned is used in many industries and is an essential part of Project Management Body of Knowledge, no effective process has been defined to capture, validate, and reuse projects' lessons learned. A three stage system was developed and used to...
