    Abstract
With unbounding the manufacturing resources and capabilities from shopfloors and being available as on-demand services for everyone who needs, the service allocation problem becomes critical. Despite of private Cloud Manufacturing platforms in which the service allocation problem is an optimization matching problem, in public Cloud Manufacturing platforms the service allocation problem is a matching game between manufacturing providers and consumers. This is a complex form of games that has two sides, one side is the players that has manufacturing resources and capabilities and the other side is the players who want to receives such services. In this paper, we present a matching game model...

    Abstract
Online manufacturing markets are new emerging types of markets that are spreading in the shade of public Cloud Manufacturing. This paper introduces a public Cloud Manufacturing market and denotes its differences from a private one. Public Cloud Manufacturing enables service-oriented manufacturing models for everyone in society. The prosperity of such market is tied to appropriate matching between providers to consumers. This paper elaborates on a mechanism to prescribe an appropriate allocation between resources and demands in this public market. The mechanism exploits the VIKOR method to develop preference lists for providers and consumers, the method also is augmented by the Intuitionistic...

Work-in-Progress: heterogeneous redundancy to address performance and cost in multi-core SIMT

    , Article Proceedings of the 12th IEEE/ACM/IFIP International Conference on Hardware/Software Codesign and System Synthesis Companion, CODES 2017, 15 October 2017 through 20 October 2017 ; 2017 ; 9781450351850 (ISBN) Naghashi, M ; Mozafari, S. H ; Hessabi, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
As manufacturing processes scale to smaller feature sizes and processors become more complex, it is becoming challenging to have fabricated devices that operate according to their speciication in the irst place: yield losses are mounting [3]. In this work, we investigate adding heterogeneous hot redundancy (i.e., the architecture of redundant hot cores is diferent from the baseline cores) to improve the cost and performance of multicore single-instruction, multiple-thread (SIMT) architectures. We propose to utilize x86 out of order (OoO) cores as redundancy in SIMT processors. In this case, dice with unused functional redundancies can beneit from two types of processing cores (OoO and SM)

    2002
    Abstract
In many industries there is a need for a flexible system, which is capable of picking up some objects of various shapes, weights, and colors with arbitrarily position and orientation. Such system requires recognition and guiding sub-systems. The recognition system includes target function for the recognition sub-system and relation between object characteristics and recognition target. The laser sensor system can be used for such object recognition. Wire-based telemetry and control systems can cause many problems in shop floors and factories, and so there has been a strong growth of interest in wireless guidance like vehicles equipped with laser guiding and navigation systems. This article...

    Abstract
In recent years, economic globalisation and manufacturing resource globalisation as two key factors have driven enterprises to transform their business processes to survive in competitive environments. This transformation is challenging as manufacturing enterprises should maintain their support for their customers with high-quality products, lower cost, product customisation capabilities, and quick delivery. Moreover, globalisation has resulted in geographically distributed suppliers across the globe. This challenge will turn into a major research topic when paradigms like Cloud manufacturing are introduced. Cloud manufacturing is a new paradigm which provides ubiquitous, convenient,...

    Abstract
In this paper we are to present a practical application of Axiomatic Design (AD) methodology, as a roadmap to lean production, in redesigning a car body assembly line. Axiomatic Design theory provides a framework to simplify the whole problem. According to the AD principles, a hierarchical structure has been developed. The developed structure originated in lean manufacturing principles and existing conditions of an assembly line, revealed that elimination of all kinds of waste is a prerequisite for other functional requirements. Several main sources of waste were recognized in the assembly line and some practical solutions are suggested to alleviate these problems. In the initial survey, it...

    Abstract
The cloud manufacturing paradigm has been known as one of the best solutions for today's competitive manufacturing environments. This paradigm insists on using a manufacturing service oriented approach for fulfilling the manufacturing enterprise resource management by the access to global availability of manufacturing services. The proposed service oriented approach covers a wide area of manufacturing resource management from infrastructures to platforms and applications. However, due to wide global distributions of manufacturing clouds, the service oriented architectures which are designed in the clouds cannot communicate with each other. This is mainly due to concentration of cloud...

    , Article Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing ; Volume 22, Issue 1 , 2006 , Pages 1-16 ; 07365845 (ISSN) Houshmand, M ; Jamshidnezhad, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    2006
    Abstract
In this paper, we present an axiomatic modeling of lean production system design, using process variables (PVs). So far, we had developed a model for conceptual design of lean production systems by means of FR-DP relationships, the key characteristics of axiomatic design (AD) methodology, appeared in the proceedings of Second International Conference of Axiomatic Design. Albeit the model in question was thorough enough to be applied in various cases, its embedded abstract principles hamper straightforward applications and the required resources, tools, and techniques are not clarified. In AD terms, it lacks PVs created by mapping the design parameters (DPs) to the process domain to clarify...

    Abstract
Cloud manufacturing is an emerging service-oriented manufacturing paradigm that integrates and manages distributed manufacturing resources through which complex manufacturing demands with a high degree of customization can be fulfilled. The process of Service Composition and Optimal Selection (SCOS) is an important issue for practical implementation of cloud manufacturing. In this paper, a new Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) model for solving the SCOS with transportation consideration has been proposed. This model minimizes both manufacturing and transportation costs subject to some constraints such as necessity of transportation between manufacturing resources and the requirements specified...

    Abstract
Cloud Manufacturing (CMfg), a new manufacturing paradigm, enables an opportunity for manufacturing enterprises to respond to a wide variety of demands. The CMfg concept integrates the distributed resources and capacities in a shared economy, transfers them to the virtual manufacturing services with various quality of service (QoS) properties. These services are invoked to collaborate in producing customized demands with specific functional and non-functional properties. The operational perspective of the service-demand matching problem is considered more in the literature; however, it is a challenging problem in the CMfg ecosystem. This paper evaluates the service-demand matching problem...

    Abstract
Cloud manufacturing (CMfg) is a new service-oriented manufacturing paradigm that enables distributed collaboration between manufacturers. As logistics between geographically dispersed manufacturers is indispensable in CMfg environment, and the responsibility for the whole lifecycle of products becomes more important for manufacturers, we have taken into account both forward and reverse logistics services in CMfg. Unlike most of the research in the field, this paper not only addresses the special needs of CMfg system from reverse logistics perspective but also considers the transportation of returned products. For this purpose, an agent-based architecture for tackling reverse flows in CMfg is...
